I had Mike at ORS up in Aurora, CO tell me that droping the front diff isnt a good solution because there is so lil fluid in there that its good for your cv joints but bad for the gears. so im kinda undecided if i should even worry about it or not. are there any other solutions to it other than dropping the diff?

I'm not quite sure if that makes sense. You're lowering the diff as a unit, so the fluid level wouldn't change, right? Its not like you're lowering the diff housing and somehow managing to keep the gears in their original position.

he said that it tilts it a little and there is a bearing in there that gets all screwed up.

Hmm...well I suppose it could tilt a little, but man its gotta be minimal. I haven't read any reports of things getting screwed up due to a diff drop. With all the people running them, hopefully others will chime in!

You shouldn't worry about it. As far as I can see, it's not tilting anything. The only thing it might do is slightly increase the angle of the driveshaft from the transfer case, which is very minimal and not hurting anything. I'm running a 2.5" cornfed spacer up front and got the diff drop spacer from wheelers and am very happy with it.

It will change the pinion angle by an 1", but you should be fine.

Just fill the front diff until the oil comes out fo the hole. The FSM calls for less than the hole, when tilted down filled to the hole is the same as slightly less than the hole upright.

I have had the diff droped down for a year and a half and everything is just fine.

Stange thing is that a year ago ORS was looking into a diff drop kit that lowered the rear as well. That's not going to be easily attained. At that point they abandonded the idea.

How tall were the diff drop spacers?

they're the ones from the revtek kit and measured about 1" tall.

CV's after diff. drop..............no alignment yet.




Front driveshaft after diff. drop..........I see very little change if none.

but if i were to do a 2 inch sus lift do you think i should still do the diff drop?

You should make that call after the lift and alignment. I don't think I needed it but did it as insurance.

well ive been told and told that you cant go over a 2 inch lift with your auto hubs.

I was told 3" was max and 2.5'' was ideal with out a diff. drop. With 3'' and a diff. drop I don't see the problem.

They really aren't auto hubs. If they were auto then the maunual hub conversion wouldn't cost 1400
