2.7L Cracked E. Manifold??

I was screwing around in the engine compartment today and noticed that I seem to have a cracked exhaust manifold. So need some advice on routes to go as far as what to buy to replace it....obviously a better performing one would be ideal but again don't know which brand to go with. I found some write ups, but all for 3.4 size engines. Also, what kind of job would this be to replace and install myself? Everyone with the 3.4 seems to think its pretty easy, but what about the 2.7 engine???

What all should I expect to buy?..manifold, gaskets,....that it?

Thanks in advance!!

Go with a header, you'll never regret it.

Thats what I'm leaning towards...whats the cost of those like?? I can replace the manifold with a plain stock one for well under 100...? So still debating...

I put a LCE header on my 2.7 about two years ago. I love it, no complaints.

2.7 manifold

I replaced my cracked 2.7 manifold with a stock replacement 'Yota manifold. It's really my significant other's truck. I just pay for it and fix it. I was tossing around the idea of getting a header for it, but in the long run, and with all of my problems with headers on my other car, (87 Cutlass) I decided to go with the manifold from the dealer.

It was really that hard. I have a lift to work on, but i think it still could be done without a lift. You only need to go under to access the downpipe connecting bolts. Everything else can be done up top. I replaced all the hardware while i was doing the job. You don't need the EGR pipe gasket, its metal and can be reused.

Funny thing is- now the muffler seam is cracked. Trying to decide between Magnaflow or stock. If I can get a good deal on the stock stuff, i'll probably go that route. Again, unfamilarity really scares me. Been doin' alot of searching on the Forum looking for advice.

This is my first post.... how'd I do?

Thanks for the advice! A good post at that!....I've found a few places that will sell headers for 2.7 but I just don't know if I want to drop $300 for it....I'm thinking I may just replace it with a stock one and redo the rest of the exhaust system wwith a magnaflow, borla....something like that...can't decide...

manifold

I've started seeing manifolds on eBay recently. Of course, that was AFTER I spent more than a little bit on an OEM one. http://tinyurl.com/h84w9 is one i found quickly on eBay. I have dealt with 1AAuto before, with good results (they are the seller of that listing)

Wish i could find an OEM cat-back exhaust for under $360, thats the cheapest i could get it. Don't want to find out the hard way that a Magnaflow sucks behind the 2.7 engine.

Who on Earth said that?

Installing headers was harder than swapping front and rear diffs/axle housings with a donor vehicle!
