1st Gen Leather Seats
i want to put some leather seats in my '84 4runner and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. i did some searching, but couldnt find a whole lot.
will 2nd gen leather seats bolt right in?
are there any other vehicles that will bolt right in?
i can't weld but other than that i dont mind doing a little work to get some nice seats in there.
how much do junk yards usually charge for a set of leather seats? i read somewhere on here that someone pulled some Ford Escape seats and took the brackets off of his seats and put them on the new ones; wonder how tough that was. seems like it may be something to try.
any helps would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

they second gens should bolt right in, they migth require a little modification, but im sure welding wont be involved, probably just some hammering and maybe some drill work

i got sr5 cloth buckets for $75 for the pair from my local junkyard out of an 84 4x2 truck.... they are worn, but felt a lot better than what was currently in my truck and i got buckets instead of the bench seat

Cost depends on what you want. For example back around 85-86 wrecking yards could get 500 each for SR5 seats -everyone wanted them. Nowdays the odds aren't great that they'd be in good shape so they are cheap...

Ya gotta keep an eye on the yards. Just keep calling or better yet stop in and look. They don't always know exactly what is out there. I found a set of SR5 five-way adjustable seats in an old 87 runner. Got em' for $150.00, only thing wrong with them was they were wet.
Good luck finding leather though, ya might consider finding something nice and spending the real money on seat covers, or get them re-covered by a pro.
