Question 1st Gen Bumper Aux Lights?

I'm I correct in saying that all 1st Gen Pickups, 4Runners, etc. had the same type of front bumper? Please correct me if I'm wrong. But anyway, has anyone installed auxilary lights in those 2 rectangular holes in their front bumper? Thanks.

looks like an easy spot to mount them, just make some simple brackets. would you be able to aim them tho?

My old 85 4Runner front bumper looks like that...I always thought it was a good spot for machine guns!

It probably would be an easy install. I've seen some light kits with brackets on them. You can aim them, and they bolt on to a flat surface, like inside the bumper. I was just wondering if anyone has done it. Maybe some pictures?

But where then are you going to put your license plate? Mine blocks the holes.

Many states don't require the front plate.

Mine goes in the middle, thus the two little holes in the middle about license place distance apart.

Very nice looking old Toy you got there Jonathan. I'd make some brackets that bolt up to an existing hold or weld onto the bumper bracketry. I wouldn't screw anythign into the bumper sheet metal to hold the lights as it'll wiggle out eventually.

I removed the 2 bolts on the top of the bumper and installed 2 KC low profile lights back when I still had a stock bumper. They slid right in and it seemed like they were made just for it.

i know in '87 or '88 the front bumper was changed so it was a full wraparound style and didn't use those cheesy plastic end caps. seems that toyota never could make up their mind, my '79 has a wraparound bumper but in '81 or '82 they changed to one with end caps, then changed back eventually

as for the lights, i'll try and dig up a picture of the lights in my '84 i had. i had a 4wd grill and cut out spots for lo-profile fog lamps in the grill, not hard to do and looked very cool!
