1997 4runner - keyless entry/alarm question
I picked up a 97 4runner not too long ago, it came with a black keyless entry remote.
It doesnt have a security light and it doesn't beep/flash when I push the button
Does that mean I just have a keyless entry system and no factory alarm?
Was that even an option?
It's a SR5 4wd if that makes any difference

If you've got a little security light, and it doesn't do anything, most likely something is wrong with it. The keyless entry should work... There is a factory alarm as well, I dont know if that was an option or not.

I tried holding the button down for 3-4 seconds, then pushing a button on the remote, but it didn't work out

Look around somewhere for a toyota security inset about the same size as one of the switch panel blanks. I think most of them are on the dash behind or near the steering wheel; mine is by the emergency brake on the center console. This is the light I think that the documentation is referring to, not the light on the remote itself. If you push the little green button on your alarm brain (on mine it is seen looking from under the back of the front seat), the light that starts blinking is the light on the car, not the light on the remote. There lots of info on here. Search RS3000.
