165K+ miles and modding?

Do yall think it's worth for me to do any performance mods? Should I just start saving for a new suv?

If everything mechanically is good, then preformance upgrades are fine. I would suggest making sure everything is working well with the stock stuff first. Give it a good tune up and go from there. I think adding preformace iteams onto exsisting problems makes things difficult down the road.

I certainly hope that's not true. My old '95 chevy blazer went 250,000 miles and I sold it with still no problems in the engine. I hope a toyota can do as well as a chevy!!

I traded my last one in at 215k...and had no problems...just wanted a 3.4l and more power. Toyota's will go forever if maintained properly.

If your Toyota engine dies at 170K, then it wasn't properly maintained. I have seen several toys go over 250K and all they had to do is keep up with regular maintanece(sp).

I'm at 150k, put the S/C on around 125k and have more performance mods planned around spring.

If the engine's been well maintained thus far, do it!

thanks for all the great inputs. I think I'm gonna keep it around for another 60k or so. I'm be doing some maintenance work first than some light modding.

Cool. The "deckplate" and "ISR Mod" are good first candidates that are simple to do, give real results and are reversible.

Check the Tech Section and/or search for details!

My first yota (91 3.0 2wd p/u) had 268k when I sold it and it was running strong. I just got a 92 4runner with a 3.0 and 157k. I'm starting the mods as we speak!!
