Use factory mounting plate perhaps.

The factory mounting plate?

All it has is 2 small dimples int eh bumper for the holes, and youre supposed to mount the plate directly onto the bumper...no bracket, no nothing..

Hmmm bummer. Guess you're lucky it's just a Toyota. Don't worry bro, it shouldn't hurt the resale value.

Kidding aside, you can make sure that there's not a bracket they forgot to give you. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

My dad didn't have his front plate on. Since he didn't want to drill holes, the guy at the gas station just used zip ties to hold it. However...I'm not sure if this would be a legal way of holding your plate, It isn't very nice, and I don't know if the 05's have a place to zip tie to.

i havent gotten the MY truck yet. But they delivered 2 trucks while I was there today, and neither of them had a bracket. I asked, and they dont have brackets. Its the same for Tundras and Seqouias and all other Yotas too...

Im going ot have them zip tie it on for delivery. Im thinking of having a small backing plate machined to hold hte plate through the lower grille.

Im looking for other ideas though..

what about fabbing up some sort of bracket you can attach from behind the bumper and wrap up and around to the front? get some of that stuff you dip tool handles in to coat them with a rubber like coating to protect the bumper face from road vibration of the fabbed bracket.

Im thinking of making a 12"x2.5" plate with holes drilled and tapped for 1/4" bolts. Put it BEHIND hte lower grille, and stick a bolt through the licence plate, through the grille, and into the plate.

Im wondering if theres an easier way though..

Yup, this was a concern of mine since my truck was coming from a dealer in Ohio.... You should be able to get some metal, bend it and mount it through the lower bumper facia grill to hold the plate.

Wow, that's an awful lot of work just to avoid holes that a license plate would already cover up. Something specific you got planned?

I DO NOT want to drill the bumper. If I ever decide to take the plate off, I dont want 2 ugly holes in the bumper.

Don't put the plate on!

Where i am, the Rear Plate is required. The front one.. is Recommended. Thats why the cars don't have brackets, and also we only recieve one Sticker, do you recieve two or one where you are? Thats usually a good indication of how many plates are neccessary where you are.

We only get one sticker, but front and rear plates are required.

When would I take the front plate off? When I move! Or I mihgt just risk getting a ticket and leave it off...front plates are SOOOOOOO ugly...

In California we only get one reg sticker but both plates are mandatory.
Just FYI.

ive had the front plate on mine for about a month, one of the first times off roading i bent the plate so i took it off. even on my old 86 i never ran the front plate for nearly 6 yrs. i always have it under the passenger seat and if need be i stick it on the dash if the local law enforcement requires it. so far not a second look from them.

I got my 05 Tundra about 3 weeks ago. I just notice yesterday the front plate thing. I didn't get a mounting bracket. I think I'll wait and see if I get any heat with it off.
