Be careful how you do it. I did the standard Perma-cool set-up on my '90 3.0, and the hoses and connectors are cheeseball, to say the least. I siezed my engine when the hose on the pressure side of the engine plate blew off.

On the plus side, this is what led me to doing a 3.4 conversion. I did choose to use the relocation kit, again, but all I used were the engine plate, and the remote filter bracket. I plumbed it with full on hydraulic hoses and fittings, and have had no problems with it (knock wood!)

I had the same thing happen to my '95 4Runner I used to own. Two weeks after I had the engine rebuilt both top & bottom a hose blew off. One week hose clamp cost me a 2nd rebuild but at least it was only the top end for the 2nd build. In all it was over $10k spent on the rebuilds.

I later learned that it is possible to have braded lines w/ the correct male fittings made for the remote kit & that would greatly reduce the risk of such a failure.

Do you guys have pictures of where your are mounting your remote filters? I have be looking for a place for a while and just haven't found a place that would make changing the oil easier.

On my 4Runner I put it in the front right wheel well (kinda behind the head light) & had a metal shield made to protect it from rocks & stuff that might damage the filter.

I bought the adaptor for the 4Runner from Federated Auto Parts.

Both the engine adaptor, and the filter adaptor are threaded for 1/2" NPT.
[National Pipe Thread].

I installed fittings [4 each], 37* JIC on one end, and 1/2 NPT on the other end, teflon tape on the NPT into the adaptors.

Used 1/2" braided steel hydraulic hose, [ 2000lbs. working pressure ]

And 37* JIC crimp on swivel fittings on each end.

Both fittings and hose are available at hydraulic hose shops.

Using swivels let's you twist the hose around where you want it before you crank down the fittings, and makes them much easier to install.
