'04 Tacoma - 2.4l motor - automatic - baseline truck.

This has been going on for a long time and I've never been too oncetrned about it. Thought I'd check here to see if anyone has experienced this.

All along the top of the dash I will see very small pieces of clear plastic-like wrapping material. It looks like the clear plastic used in a lot of shrink wrapping. I suspect there are components inside the dash area wrapped in something like this and it's coming loose and blowing up through the defrost vent area.

Occurs of course when I turn on the a/c and I do have the vents directed at me and not the windshield. There isn't a ton of the stuff blowing out, but after I wash the truck and clean off the dash, a day or 2 later, I'll see a dozen or so very small pieces of this clear plastic-like wrapping material scattered over the top of the dash.

Anyone else experienced this?

I did check the library site here for TSBs. Nothing related to this popped up.

You might have sucked something into the fresh air intake and shredded it in the fan or could have been a nest built in there.

Turns out there are foam pieces under that dash with plastic backing behind the foam. Flakes off.
