03 4Runner Radio Removal
I have a 03 4Runner SR5 4X4 V8 without the JBL radio system.
How do I remove the dash to get the radio out????
It looks like this radio will be a double DIN type.
Thanks......

Thanks.
That gaves me all the information that I need to remove the dash...It looks like their is a kit for a single DIM radio out....
Is their one somewhere where a double DIN radio can be out in to take up the whole space and will not need the pocket below the radio...
Thanks again....

I think even if you get a dbl din, you'll need to get a shim kit for it as it's abit wider than the dbl din...
That's why I had to get the kit myself...
try giving american international a call to see if they can get u a dbl din kit..

you'll need to get a wiring harnes so you don't have to cut up the existing harness.. this can be found at any audio store or you can even go to best buy/circuitcity/good guys to get it too...
They're usually 15 bucks I think.
after you get the wiring harness it's all plug and play. you'll find 2 antenna leads in the back, just use the larger one that'll fit your aftermarket radio the smaller one dont worry about it.
It should take u maybe 1 hr tops so long as you take your time

actually the harness is a toyota harness as it'll work on all toyotas!
each mfg has their own, honda, nissan, etc etc... just make sure you get the toyota audio wiring harness... if you don't know, just ask the sales person at the store and they'll help you out..

check that thread on the top and it'll have a pic of my radio (it's old though from back in 96!!!)....
if it works, then no need to waste $$$ for it..
As for changers, there is a empty cubby hole located in the glove box - check the top inside!) i believe a 6 disc one should fit but i don't have the funds to install one so you're on your own for this one.
my stock radio was okay but stock is stock...

The kit that I used is Metra 99-8202 from Parts express here
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/psho...tnumber=265-838
The plastic surround is the correct size for the hole (DIN+1/2 ?), but you'll need to modify the original mounting brackets a little bit to fit. Took me 3-4 hours to get it in there.
Mark
PS I just tried the link and it don't work. When you get there, search for part number 99-8202.
