03 4-runner impressions

first, i would like to thank everyone who offered suggestions on the purchase of a 03 4-runner. my parents just got home
with a limited v-8 4x4 with all the goodies. they ended up going
through cars direct. com. purchase price was 500 over invoice.
i know some have bought much cheaper but that was the best
we could do in our area. had to go 170 miles to get it.

bear in mind im not a real big suv guy myself. im saving my pennys for an 05 mustang hopefully in mach 1 trim. i just took
the 4-runner for a spin and i must say i love that thing! the v-8
moves this truck effortlessly. i really love the torque of the i-force v-8. the truck is sooooo tight. the fit and finish are about as
good in my opinion as you can get. this is the 6th toyota my
parents have owned and only time will tell but this one may be
the best. if not, it is the most advanced technology wise. they have never had a toyota product that was only "average".

although i have never driven a exlorer or one of the new trailblazers it didnt take me long to figure out why a 4-runner
is slightly higher in price. im hoping to drive it a little more
when the weather clears up here and will try to offer a more
detailed review. wish them luck!

I actually got rid of a 1998 Explorer Sport for this truck. I can tell you that the quality is much higher on the Toyota. Also the feel and drive of the truck is really impressive. One thing taht really impressed me is the ease of changing the lights on the 03 4Runner, there is so much open space around them. I practically had to break my hand to change the lights on my Explorer. Overall I think the build quality is very impressive, and Toyota makes a great product.

03 runner

L33, i agree with you on the looks. im not crazy about it but its
growing on me. they had a 02 4-runner and i liked the looks much better. it just looked more muscular to me. however, the
torque of the v-8 is intoxicating to me. i have also driven a 03
with a 4.0 v-6 and was quite impressed with it too compared to the
3.4 in the 02. i felt like the 3.4 was very adequate in everyday
situations but when you really got after it it lacked that extra punch moving so much weight. i may have a different slant on
this than a lot on this forum because im just a power hungry
person. i have no idea what effect if any it would have off road.
towing, on the other hand would really benifit from the extra
power.
