02 4Runner Auto trans Won't Engage, grinds into P-No Engine Code
It's been a while since my last post because all has been pretty well. Tonight, my automatic took a dump and I'm looking for pointers. Here's the rundown:
Started up with e-brake engaged. Released e brake, shifted into D, and pushed the accelerator, no joy. Engine revs, but no power getting to transmission. Doesn't work in 1, 2, or R either. Grinds when I shift back into P. The only issue I've had leading up to this, which has been for some time, is that it shifts a bit late when it's cold. Other than that, no issues that I've noticed. I checked the oil and found nothing out of the ordinary; no bubbles or chucks of stuff.
I'm not seeing a check engine light, so I'm assuming that means I won't read a code. My fear is that the transmission just ate it.
She's down for the count until I get this figured out. I'm hoping to avoid going to the stealership. Anyone know of a good yota mech in the general Salt Lake City areola?

Sweet Baby Jesus. This has got to be the most bone headed thing I have ever done. I knocked the damned transfer case into neutral with my idiotic knee. I was trying to drive with the differential in neutral. That's all.
Here's the thing; I'd just gotten out of my calculus II midterm, so my mind was mush, but I was also still in the mindset where I saw everything through Good Will Hunting's eyes, all integrals and hyperbolic arches n' ˟˟˟˟˟. Simplicity wasn't something I could handle at the moment. Plus, I can't say I'd ever actually tried to drive with the diff in neutral.
Ugh, I need to spend more time doing manly things.
