I'm looking at a 01 Prerunner double cab with the v6 auto. Its in decent shape except someone tried to fix some scratches with a paint pen and failed at it. all stock with 87k on the clock. I'm in Southern Cali and there's not any comparable trucks that have sold for me to get an idea of price. The unfortunate thing is its my Grandpas truck and my famely is trying to clear the estate.

Frankly I'm at a loss as to a fair offer. KBB puts it at 7k which seems high but as i can't find comps...

what is a fair value for one of these trucks? Also I know this missed the rust issues but is there anything else to be wary of on them besides the tranny milkshake?

$7k is a steal for a truck with that low of mile. Around here the KBB doesn't mean squat on the Toyotas. You can easily give 8-10k for a early 2000 double cab prerunner (with 150k+ miles) , and a 4wd can fetch $12k or more.
