I have an '00 Limited with leather. The driver's side seat cushion (bottom)has developed some cracks just above the power seat switch. Does anyone know if the seat bottoms from a non power seat will fit the power seat frame / assembly without a problem?

The other thing I thought I could do is to switch the seat bottom from the driver's side to the passenger's side. Would that work?? Then the cracks would be hidden by the center console.

If I remember correctly the seat mounts are quite different from Driver vs Passenger. Especially if you have the rear heat (I believe standard on the LTDs) Its been a few years since I had my seats out. Just take a look at the mounting angles, if my memory serves my correctly they are quite different...

almost all the 3rd gens have the rear heat, and Turboale is right.

And you could switch it from a non-power seat, but you will have a hole where the front seat adjustor was on the non-power seat. The switch panel on the power seat takes care3 of up/down adjust and does not rely on that knob.

pass side seat and drivers side seat wont interchange, atleast not on a 91 pickup, i tried it today lol

when I reupholstered my seats, I switched the bottoms for the same reasons... i had to dissassemble them of course... but it went rather smoothly.

Well, I finally got energetic and took the seats out of my '00 Runner. To my pleasant surprise I found that the seat bottoms were identical for the drivers and passengers side. So I unbolted the seats from the floor, removed the plastic trim from the sides of the seats, removed 4 bolts that hold the seat bottoms to the track / frame, disconnected a couple of wires and did the switch. The cracks that were once on the drivers side are now hidden by the center console as that seat bottom is now on the passengers side.

Only difference was that the passengers side has a pressure sensor in it that lights up the little red guy in the dash to tell the passenger to buckle up. I just snipped and capped the wires and everything is fine except that the little red guy is gone.

I'm really happy that this worked out as I was comtemplating seat replacement or recovering for a few small cracks in the side of one seat.

No ˟˟˟˟ that just saved me $1000 ish buck either new seats from the dealer $700+ or Mastercraft $550+. I wonder how I can get the red guy to stay by somehow switching the pressure switch.

To get at the pressure switch I suppose you could remove the seat covers and do the swap of the switch. For me, I really didn't care if the guy disappears. To re / re the covers, you will need some upholstery tools such as hog ring pliers and new hog rings.

or just regular pliers and zip ties... my entire re upholstering was done that way, just bend the hog rigs and loosen the leather up, then put a zip tie and lock it in the same place as the hogring and thats it, no special tools or hogrings.

Heres the other question that came to mind.
1. Where do the seat adj. lever end up?
2. is the back rest interchangeable ? I have lumbar on the drive and like it.

This is the best mod ever! I love it. Though I have not driven it so I dont know which lights will stay on and which are off! Cleaned the seats, and everything looks great! The swap itself was easy and required no time at all, I was able to clean the carpet too and needed to vacuumed. I have to say this looks great and though my pass. airbag will prolly deploy because the seat sensor is now disconnected.

Yea i had to get rid of my lumbar support when I switched the backs because my foam around the sides of the seat was worn in.

Never thought about the passenger's side air bag. Guess it is better for it to deploy vs not even if nobody is sitting there. Glad this helped.

Yeah better to deploy than not. But damn what a simple fix to an ugly problem. My seats look like new the outside anyway!

What did you use to reupholster your seats with (what materials)? And where did you get it from? I am thinking of adding some foam to soften my old seats.
