Project IT SLEEPS

I also really routed my wiring harness under the hood. I didn't like it ran into the cab and the computer in the glove box. It fit well in there don't get me wrong. And the fuse block was hard to mount in there. I think this will hold just fine

I got my slag factory 63inch Chevy spring swap kit. Pretty solid and shipped quick. Wish it came with instructions lol but YouTube will work out and some research on here. But all in all looks very simple to install.I'll probably work on it this weekend. I'll do my best to help give instructions step by step.

What do you guys think? Should I keep the axle sitting back a smidgen or put back center?. Nothing is fully welded so yeah lol. Ignore the fender job lol I have fiberglass ones on the way hopefully by December. For the rear axle I do plan I off roading it some and maybe a uwharrie national forest ride but nothing crazy because it is going to be my DD

On my 86' 4 runner I tried moving the rear axel back approx 1" I liked the look and the idea of stretching the wheelbase, but when I tested the suspension flex the tire was making contact with the rear part of the fenderwell. I ended up moving back to centered. The body on my runner was rust free and in good shape so I didn't want to do any trimming. I don't want to clutter up your thread with my pics, but if you want to check it out it starts on post #903 https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...3/index46.html

RustED, mine is back maybe like a half inch if that. Really not to far off center. Worst I can do right now is flex test it before I make the welds 100% when get it moving.

right on, the 1/2" difference probably isn't enough to worry about. When I did my rear suspension the kit came with new axel housing spring perches. The perches were longer than stock and had 3 holes instead of just one, this allowed for some adjustability an inch forward and an inch back of the center hole. It helped in getting my suspension dialed in. I'm not saying that you need them, but if you have your leaf springs and shackle angle set pretty good where you want them it would give you that extra adjustment.

This is a serious question about custom bumpers. First off who here is familiar with the company (move bumpers?) I talked to them and they obviously don't have any for out toyotas. Well from my understanding when I talked to them, they said if I can pretty much get enough people wanting them they may be able to produce them. I am willing to be the first one to help advertise there bumpers on our 1st gen 4runners and pickups. Even the possibility of the generations following. Pass this on to other Toyota guys and let me know I can show the company all who will be willing to get a move bumper for there toyotas. I personally think it will look really good on our toyotas. So let me know what yall think of this idea...

hey ladies and gents. sorry i have not been posting much. been busy and sourcing out more parts. i did end up finishing my 63 chevy spring swap in the rear. biggest pain right now is the nv4500 matting to 5.3 issue but its 85-90 percent there thanks to this page and google lol. and pics soon to come..... i promise i haven't forgotten about you all. my goal is to try to make this page helpful for others wanting to do the same besides having a hand full of posts about this kinda swap especially with a nv4500 going in.

Here is a little update to the clutch set up for the nv4500. I used the 1995 chevy clutch master cylinder and I had to fab up some stuff to get it to hold into place. I'll also show y'all little latter what I did with the rod to the clucth pedal. I had to cut it and fab it up. But all in all project it sleeps is getting there. It runs now thanks to PCM performance for getting my computer right. I also have my fiberglass quarters on the way now after a year of waiting all thanks to Corey at toyotafiberglass in Canada. I'll post pics of them when I get those in...

Cool build, while back you mentioned your leaf springs being stiff. I bought 5inch HD trail gear springs thinking I'd need them for my swap. I hated them so much I took them off and put my soft 4inch all pro springs back on in the front. I driove on the HD springs for about 2 years and finally grew tired of riding around in what felt like a 1ton.
What I did for the rear springs was I took out the 1st and 3rd spring of the pack. Still a hair stiff for what I like but absolutely miles above of what it was in ride comfort.

I'll see how these springs work out. Because the engine and drivetrain are much heavier than the 22r or 22re and it's transmission. But I see me swapping them out. My 63 rear chevy springs are so nice and soft compared to the old ones.

Looking nice and clean in the engine bay. Time and patience is paying off. Still have to figure out what to do with the wires not being used.
Got my gauge cluster all done ans wired in. Lights and all work. I still have to wire in the water temp. Volts, oil pressure(electronic), water temp.

Nice!
Does the shifter hit the dash?
Does the shifter hit the dash?

No it clears the dash. I did have to bend it some because it was hitting my steering wheel. I also had to cut the lower mount for the sterio area. The nv4500 shifter sits further forward than I expected. I can get better pics of it and post them up here. I still have a bit of updating to do for you all of what I have done and how I did it..

This is just the rear extended brake line for my toyota from trail-gear.
The adapters for the chevy clutch master cylinder ill post pics of it later. Its to replace the plastic line connection this is -4 AN fitting. PN RUS-641001
My Howe throw out bearing lines PN, HRE-8287
Little update of stuff I got. I'll keep posted and it's install. It's getting ever so much closer.

Well I got good new and bad news. Good news is the adapters fitted and worked well. Bad news I am sure the chevy master cylinder isn't pumping enough fluid and can't for the life of me bleed the howe throw out bearing I get little resistance in pedal but not enough to disengage what so ever, I have done just about everything. So now I'm going to order a different clutch master cylinder others have used for ls swaps and see if that one works out. Ill keep posted

Good deal and good luck with that clutch
