Ray - according to my calipers, the stuff is about 2mm thick, which I think is just a tad over 1/16".
Doesn't look like much, but this is about 45 minutes of work tonight after dinner, before kids bathtime/bedtime....squeezing it in where I can. I have the drivers door edge pretty much all trimmed. I cut a bit off the passenger door edge so I can sorta line things up on that side. Trimmed a u shaped cutout for the steer column, and started a small hole that locates the bracket for the dead pedal to mount onto. So now I just need to get that dead pedal hole finished off and then I think I'll install the pedal back on there to kind of hold things still.
It's coming along nicely! I really think I would have considered going the same route had I know about the vinyl flooring. That's part of the reason I haven't installed my new carpet yet, it's so muddy at my house right now, lol. I'm going to have to invest in a good set of floor mats!
Ha, you guys are hilarious. I tried the heat gun a bit, and it was very hot today. Made the stuff a bit more flexible, but I'm not sure if it really helped. And by the way, I couldn't really pull it outside because I had no seat. I guess I could have sat on a bucket.
It was a LONG hot day in the garage, from about 9:30am to 3pm with a lunch break, but once I got the drivers seat in I couldn't stop...
Under the front seats rear mounts I cut a piece of scrap vinyl like a big washer to keep the seat bracket from punching a hole in the floor. My overall impression of this flooring is it is thick and heavy duty, pretty hard to stab through with a utility knife so I imagine it will be durable. I like the texture. My only real negative is that I don't know if I would call this "application specific". The rear piece I don't think was molded at all, I couldn't hardly tell if it had any locator molded humps or bumps anywhere. The front piece had the seat risers molded in, so I guess that helps. But still, not have any holes precut is ROUGH, this stuff is not easy to cut so believe me I was sweating.

as it warms up it will relax an fit better around the humps i had some stuff a lot like it in my old chevy over time though it does harden up molding to the floor shape it actually broke over wires i ran years after i had put it in just something to be watchful of
Lookin good Cory. Haven't had time to check in on your project since traveling this week. By the end of summer that stuff will get so hot it will probably vacuum itself to the floor. That's the flooring I'm going with. Thanks for the write up!
Tony - yeah it's nice. With the interior all put back together, the whole family piled into the 4Runner and we went to a Cassadee Pope concert at the park. My wife said it seemed quieter, and I swear my 3 year old son said "Daddy, I don't hear your engine running, is it on?"
I don't know if everyone is just being nice because I worked so hard on that interior, but having the tite-seal, plus the felt, plus the vinyl, I do feel it is quieter. This is windows down, soft top sides rolled up, I think the real test will be putting up the windows and snapping down the soft top...but that's hard to do here in FL. Next major thing is to start dismantling the A/C. Anyone have any thoughts on rebuilding the compressor with the shaft seal and whatever other seals come in the kit? I read one thing on IH8MUD where someone said that shaft seal is hard to get on right. Just debating whether the compressor rebuild is smart, or if I should just get a new/reman compressor instead.
Also I put in my center console just to have the interior complete, but I'm going to yank it out again to put the final touches on it.

Driving the 4Runner this morning, I started noticing a fuel smell. I had just driven by a lawn maintenance crew, so I figured it was their equipment, but after I while it was still with me. I was close to home, so I went home, shut off the truck and looked underneath, there was fuel dripping up near the front passenger wheel area. So I popped the hood, and I could see fuel in a lot of places, but I could really tell where it had leaked from. I started the truck back up and saw it immediately spraying from a pin hole in the hose from the fuel pressure regulator over to the hardline back to the tank. Went and picked up 3ft of 1/4" fuel line and replaced that hose plus the hose to the charcoal canister. Glad that happened close to home.
Original hose, pinhole is right where it sharply bends onto the hardline.
On another note, I noticed my turn signals are not working, hazards not working either. So I checked the haz-horn fuse under the hood, it's fine and the horn works, so I figured it's probably the relay. There is a check in the FSM for the relay, so I wanted to pull it out and check it, but I can't get the relay out. I don't see any locking tabs on it, does anybody know how it comes out? Does it just pull straight out? The fuse panel was starting to flex and I really didn't want to break it.

Glad u caught the leak, Cory. Tnx fi sharing the picture. Our trucks are about the same age so when someone's truck has a breakdown, it's a good idea to check that system on ours as well.
+1 on relay. Could just be poor contact on relay socket.
I'll double check how the blinker relay unplugs on mine in an hour or so and let u know.
