I had a couple of front crossmember designs I played around with over the years. All four of these designs lovered the diff to lesson the CV angle. Unfortunatly this exposed them to obstructions on the trail. The bottom one was nice for ease of install / removal of front diff assembly. Just roll a tranny jack under it and lower it down. I dreaded lifting that thing up and over font or rear diff crossmembers. You still need the crossmembers for strength but its easy to remove them without the diff weight bearing down and attachment connections in the way.

i know all to well about trying to get the crossmember in place and balence the third at the same time.I am glad you brought that to my atention.toamrow i wll be building on my rear crossmember for the needed suport that the backet lift needs.I am going to atempt to build it in a way that it will go over the top of third so it can stay in place if i need to remove the pumpkin pie. <november talk>at this point i do belive that my third is actually lifted like 1.5 inches. At full droop nothing is binding with an onmodified cv . no droop stop and a half inch ball joint spacer .

i do belive that my third is up an inch or so in that pic. we know there is a combinatio of things that can be done like 1 inch diff drop or 1 or 2 inch drive train lift. i have no idea if it can be done with out lift.thanks for the kind words.

I concur, to center mount the 7.5" diff the "drop bracket" really simplifys matters. Oil pan modification and/or relocating the diff takes some R&D. Another nice thing about the centermount is you won't have to cut off the crossmember to frame tabs on the passenger side like you do in the standard drop bracket diff location. In the second picture I posted above you can see the tabs I am talking about.

This as got me thinking about doing a 2" body lift, making some 2" motor mount spacers (a little trig involved there) and moving the diff. I'm considering just trying to move it 3" over towards the center, cutting down the tube side of the diff 6" (have to get the axle part cut and resplined, how much is that usually?) and then using T100 half shafts. I'll see when I get home in March.

the problem with cuting down the long side stub is that it tapers down so i dont know if it could be resplined. But i like the idea of the longer t 100 shafts. if i think of somthing i will post. For the long cv axles on my runner i will be using 2 long side staight axle axles cut and resplined.I know a place that does it for 90 dollars a pair.

I can't remember from the last time I had the front end apart. So the splined part is bigger than the rest of the long side shaft? That would put a little hitch in my plan......
It looks like you also have a 'LT' of some sort on your 4 runner.

yes i do .I will Take a closer look at the long side axle and get back to you. if you could do something along the lines of what you are thinking you could get a lot of wheel travel out of a narrow front end. that would be cool.

Subscribed.

Blazeland+Supra Diff+Tim's axles+ccraviotto's diff mount / crossmember just might be a winning (albeit pricey) combination. You guys should go into business together! It seems like you might almost have a complete system.
