Balzonya's 1992 4Runner build up

Howdy!

Well I got my first 2nd gen 4Runner. This bone stock, 160kish Minnesota rig for 2 grand. It was a good buy because my '88 single cab was way to cramped. So the 4 doors was a nice chane from my other toyotas. (1989 xcab, sold then blew up, 1989 4Runner, lifted on 35s, sold, 1988 2wd, sold, 1988 single cab, waiting to be sold)

I bought this from an old guy who got it from a kid. It's a nice truck on the inside. Rust around the rear wheel wells and spots on the tale gate, but nothing mechanically or underbody is that rusty. The odometer has stopped rolling at 143k

Just found out vehical speed sensor number 1 is going out. (code 42 if I remember right). So I'll have to deal with that sooner than later.

I dont have a pic with the stock rims or running boards on it but here it is about a week after I bought it...

Looks loads better with the 265/75r16 BFGoodrich All Terrain T/As and black American racing rims.

As of right now I've done...
Installed two hella fog lights
New ball joints, upper and lower
New sway bar end links on both sides
New pinion seals on front and rear differentials˟
New 80w90 oil with gear additive in diffs and transfer case
New high pressure line on the power steering with new fluid

Some pics for your viewing pleasure...

So now that summer is here I can make some money and start rebuilding it.

Future plans...
1.5" BJ spacers with OME or matching coil spacer
33/10.5r15 _________
New Skyjacker shocks and steering stabilizer
ReGear front diff to 4.88 (leave open)
Buy complete third with ARB air locker with 4.88 from trail gear
New CV axles
New U-joints

I'm going to grind down the rust around the fenders, bondo and fill in the hole

This should be fun. Never done body work.
Then cover the bondo with new fender flares.

Down the road hopes...
SAS with ballon tires, 3.4 swap. That's all I can think about right now but I'll toss some more pics up and check in when my parts come in.

Thanks for looking!

Thumbs up

Love the 4 runner. It's in really good shape. I was wondering how you put the fog lights on? I plan on getting some for my 94 pickup.

Okey dokey, Nothing to great to report but summer time is near and i hope to get working soon.

A guy at work told me to run this GM top end cleaner through my brake booster vacuum line. I did it, along with an oil treatment oil change. It work great. idles smoother and shifts better (maybe thats in my head but idk, sure feels to shift better). I took me around 30 min to do the top end cleaner cause i was told to add it slowly with a special value hose. I was happy with the treatment and throttle plate cleaning (really gummed up).

I've resurfaced the rotors and touched up the red paint on the caliper.

Yup.

Just bought cap, rotor, plugs, wires so those will go on new week.

Now i've pulled the chrome trim off to check out the rust...damn near had a heart attack...

I'm about to buy fender flares from junglefenderflares.com ASAP so we can cut out the rust and cover with the flare.

Then new coil springs with a 1.5" BJ and coil spacer and some wheel spacers.

i'll take some pics when we start on that rust.

Just drilled holes in the bumper. It seemed ghetto at the time, but i love how it looks now.

ran the wires threw the grill.
