Cleaned a few so far. These parts were absolutely nasty.
I'm reusing the water pump because it only has 4k miles on it. The alternator also only has 4k on it.
The power steering was the culprit for all the leaking and took forever to clean. And the starter looks new now

Could you post a pic of your center console? I am trying to figure out what mine is supposed to look like since it didn't come with one. Yours looks similar without the heater.

The cleaning looks like its going really well. Any word from the machine shop?
You gotta try an Appalachian Mountain Brewery Long Leaf IPA if you haven't already. Very tasty!

Thanks for the measurements on that. I haven't even revisited the body work yet.
I tend to get alot of headaches and I've had a major cold for the last two weeks and some of the worst headaches I've had since i got meningitis about 2 years ago which is the worst headache ever btw.
Unfortunately I'm having similar symptoms at this point and hope like hell i don't have it again. Pretty much rendered me useless the last couple of days and if i don't rid myself of the server neck and head pain tomorrow it will be another trip to the hospital. That would of course put a hold on my build financially

Good news, not meningitis.
No hospital and i get to keep more of my money.
Bad news, my arthritis is causing swelling in my neck which is compressing some nerves. I'll have to wait it out and be more mindful of how i hang my head working.
I really want this truck back on the road, it's getting closer to kayak fishing ladies and gentlemen

Just called the machine shop and the only issues were 2 valves leaking
She is getting a resurface on the head, light hone, new rings and bearings and a valve job
I love good news.
Time to make a p.o.

Ordered engine kit from engnbldr
Head bolts from engnbldr
Aisin clutch from amazon
Timing cover from eBay engnbldr was out of stock.
Total was 350 bucks, not too shabby.
Will have to see what the machine shop charges
Unfortunately i don't think paint will fit into this calendar year's funds but i should still be able to do the body work

Don't want to scare you, but just to inform you. I bought an eBay timing cover for my 88 Pickup when I had it. The cover was really poor quality. Make sure you check that it's even with the top of the block or have the block and timing cover decked together. Mine was cast pretty poorly and I questioned whether the water pump and oil pump would seal. Also, the holes didn't line up perfect. Close enough you could get the bolts in but they were pretty close to not fitting.

I ended up getting my timing cover from Advance Auto Parts. Dorman makes a replacement. I walked in to the store and they had one in stock! I was really surprised. It worked fine right out of the box.

I plan to take the cover to the machine shop for checking.
I hope it is ok.
The reason i bought one is the machinist called and told me that the hidden bolt section had been broken and epoxied together from a previous repair and i didn't want to re use it.
Will hope for the best amd if it's no good I'll go through the processes

Well looks like I'm going to have to get this truck driving by the end of this month. My registration just came in, due the 31st, taxes tag and inspection required. Hard to inspect one with no motor in it and it's too difficult to find time to hit up the tag office to turn in and then get a new tag. Arggg

Ugh, yeah that stinks. I looked around on the North Carolina DMV to see if there was any info on temporarily suspending your registration- I didn't see anything, but it might be worth a call to explain your situation, maybe they can work with you. Otherwise, there is a 15 day grace period...

Finally got some progress on the battery carrier.
I just need to tweak some things.
I plan to bolt it in so it is removable, this way i can paint all the area without worrying about rust, and even remove it to fix any rust that may appear in the future.

Parts are in! Now time to get them to the machine shop and get that motor back.
Side note. May be changing jobs with the opportunity to make more money. The trade off is more hours of course. Weeeeee good times
