Restoring the Screen Used 85 SR5 Xtra Cab 4 x 4 From Back to the Future II and III
Hey all! I wanted to post here and let everyone know that I am the owner of the real, screen used 1985 Toyota SR5 Xtra Cab 4x4 that was used in both Back to the Future II and III. We are currently in the midst of a full blown restoration to bring the truck back to brand new condition as it was seen on screen. We are posting on a regular basis on our Facebook page, titled "Marty's Truck Restoration". Here is a link:

Please feel free to check it out! This week we will start to post pics of the actual restoration itself. If you have any questions, feel free to email or message me here or on the Facebook page. Thanks for looking and enjoy! I know I am! I posted this in the "off topic" section as well, but figure it would be easier to find here, thanks!

Good question! We (my Dad and I) are massive BTTF fans, as well as being gearheads on top of that. It started with a few DeLoreans (naturally) one of which we converted into a screen accurate Time Machine. Our website is www.88mphtimemachine.com . Then we heard that an actual screen used DeLorean from BTTF III was coming up for auction. Since there were only three of the original seven left, and two of the three were still owned by Universal Studios, we knew that if we ever wanted to own the real deal this would be our only chance. Well, we ended up buying that car and since then have made many friends in the BTTF community including a group of guys going by the name TMR, for Time Machine Restoration, that were in the midst of restoring the hero DeLorean, known as the "A" car. It was used as the hero vehicle in all three movies and was in bad shape but these guys took it upon themselves to restore it to its former glory and it is now on display at Universal Studios Theme Park in Hollywood. These guys got wind that the truck was found for sale on, of all places, Craigslist! They purchased it and since they were just finishing their build of the time machine were in no position to start another huge build. They called us, struck a deal and we purchased it from them. We are very proud to have not one but two screen used vehicles from BTTF III! Thanks for your question and if anyone has others, I would be happy to answer them.

You need to post some pictures and stuff on here as well, since you already started a build thread. I know a lot of people, me included, loath Facebook and will not go there to see your work.

You are right about that! He is a Denver Broncos fan, hence the hideous color scheme. As a fan not only of these amazing trucks but of the movie franchise it is a privilege and an honor to bring it back to its former glory!

I wanted to share some more pics of the build, starting with the dismantling of the truck. This is being performed at Greg's Restoration in Rutland, MA which works out great as it is very close to us. Enjoy the pics with more to come soon! Remember, facebook users can follow the build at Marty's Truck Restoration.

That's awesome!! I always wondered what happened to this truck, I remember watching that movie when I was 6-7 yrs old and thinking how cool that truck looked. I am sure it is the reason why so many people love old toyota trucks today. Amazing story too, however when I saw what it looked like before you got it, this is what came to mind:
