Nice work, glad to hear you got the clutch fixed and everything's working good! I like the looks of it with the bed liner removed, looks really good! Keep up the good work!

Just curious, are you running a rear sump oil pan? I'm running a front sump pan and thought I had enough clearance, but noticed the other day I have a couple dents from my drag link hitting when the suspension is flexed out.

Mine is a rear sump, it's notched from when it was in the 87 ifs pickup, haven't noticed and clearance issues yet, but we'll see after the high steer.

Yes but not today, soon though, when I do I'll pull the whole axle and clean it up/paint it.

Man redoing those knuckles fought me the whole way, mostly because I've never done them before. What a messy job it is. Tomorrow I'll be making the frame plates for the steering box and welding those up along with buttoning the front end up. Then on to installing my new head unit.
I got a Pioneer DVD, Bluetooth head unit from a buddie that should fit perfect after some modifications to the way it mounts. It's also ready for a camera so I'm thinking of doing a rear view camera for after I mount up a spare tire on a swing out. Pretty stoked to have some tunes in it, it's been radio-less until now.

The knuckles look really good all painted, I wish mine still looked that good, lol. That sounds like an awesome head unit, the backup camera feature would be awesome, especially once you have a spare tire carrier mounted! Your making some fast progress, nice work!

Nothing like a little trial by fire, completed the high steer Wednesday night and ran new wires to all the speakers, installed the head unit, buttoned up the interior. We did a quick garage alignment and threw on my Raceline wheels with the 305/70-16 Firestone M/T's. Woke up in the morning and drove 300 miles to Reno without a hiccup, glad I have faith in my welding and mechanic skills haha. To top it off I got around 16 MPG doing 75-85 with the cruise set. Needless to say I'm pretty happy with the results.

That's awesome, glad it performed well for you on the trip! That's pretty good gas mileage too, wish mine was getting that good, the one time I checked it on a 200 mile trip, I was getting just under 14mpg at an average speed of 70 MPH...but that was 2 yrs ago and when I was running 33's...I'm probably getting worse with 35's, lol. Cruise controls gotta be nice!

Took some pictures of the steering box frame plates I made along with everything all installed and how it's sitting now.

That's awesome! Is the cruise control from the mustang or did you wire it into toyota's?

From the mustang haha I need to figure out a better set of cruise buttons. Right now it's just the buttons out of the Mustangs steering wheel and there isn't really any way to mount them.

Nice pics! And that would be awesome if you could wire it into a factory cruise button

Well here is where I turn into a photo whore. This will still be a build page but I like to share pictures of adventures either wheelin or camping with the 4Runner or Tacoma.
Went out today from Reno up to Virginia City. It was good to get the 4Runner out and wheel it for more that half an hour. It's a bit rough riding, needs some front wheel spacers because my tires hit the springs and new shocks but here are a couple pictures from the drive and a this awesome place that's set to be tore down this winter called American Flats, it's a great place for photos and there is some awesome graffiti work out there. I understand the reasoning for tearing it down but it sucks to see it go.

Glad to see you got the knuckles rebuilt and high steer on.

I really need to get on that.

I had fun doing it, it would definitely go much smoother if I had done the knuckles before but they are fairly time consuming.

Pretty funny that the only real issue I had today ended up being the unsecured inertia switch so we hit a rock going up the trail and it set the switch off so I lost fuel in the middle of the trail. Just had to happen at the only place we passed another wheeler all day and he was in a Jeep haha o well I got out and reset the switch and off we went. I'm really loving this rig, my girlfriend thinks I'm retarded because I have a nice Tacoma but would rather drive this, she just doesn't understand haha.

Nice pics. I'm the same way, would rather drive the old school instead of the new. Looking forward to wheeling in a couple weeks!
