the rig is looking sweet, cool pics from the trip too! Can't wait to see the new suspension setup. Are you still planning to run the 4WU 3link upfront?

Nope im actually planning on using Ford Dana 44 twin traction beams. With that setup I'll be getting around 18" of travel and retaining 4WD. So the front will have coilovers and bypass shocks. Then I'm doing spring under Deaver springs in the rear with a Ford 9" and 14" bypass shocks.

No kidding, hopefully they clear. I'm tubbing the rear too and doing fiberglass in the back as well.

man that sounds like it's going to be a sweet setup! I like the direction your headed with your build, something outside the box and different. Can't wait to see some pics!

Not an update on the 4Runner...but I did pick up a 96 Taco for 700$. Had to replace the core support, grille, radiator, lights and build a bumper. Here's the before and after so far. Suspension on its way.

Thank you! It's a pretty fun little truck. I sold my 2015 Tundra and am now daily driving this haha. Something to be said about no truck payments.

I sold my 2010 Tundra in 2013, you're not wrong about not having to make payments!

Thanks Ed, your sheet metal work is looking good! Maybe one day I'll quit building 4 different projects and slow down enough to concentrate on those details!

That Taco the kind of deal I'm always looking for. I've got a prepped engine, transmission, full set of doors, and just about enough parts to build a 3rd gen Runner. Just waiting on the right wreck to come available. Love me a gently wrecked Yota. Most of the ones I've bought even have clean titles.

Starting my complete suspension overhaul. Getting it all drawn up in solidworks, theoretically it'll be 18" of travel at max, but probably strapped at 16 to 17".

Front suspension crossmember
There's two each of these plates that will be boxed and tubes sleeves through each of the holes.
Cycling the suspension to make sure everything clears so far.

Pulled it into the shop to start tear down today. Mocked the beam cross members in place to make sure all the measurements were right on the truck. So far everything clears no problem and looks like it's going to be pretty awesome when it's all together. Definitely not going to happen overnight since I'm going to freshen up the 302, have to order custom rear axle shafts for the 9", tub the rear and decide wether to do spring under deavers or link it.
