My new '85 toy

This is my first post, been lurking here for a while and decided I would start posting.

So I picked up this 1985 22re 4Runner. When I got it, it was in a tow yard about to be taken by insurance. Here was my love at first sight.

It was rear ended in traffic and ripped the rear bumper down and almost completely off, which tore the frame back. It also dented the tailgate really bad to the point where the window would not roll all the way down. The accident also caused the fuel pump to quit working, so before I took it home I went to the closest parts store and bought a fuel pump to put in and drove it home (sweet!)

Also had some front end damage

So I picked it up for a screamin deal I couldn't pass up, this is my first straight axle truck so I'm pretty excited! I took it home and drove it for a few weeks the way it was, besides I cut off the back bumper. Then I found a good deal on a tailgate at the junkyard. Sanded the heck out of it and painted it, rewired a few things and put it on

(Sweet stock flex)

I had to do a major tune up on it and put a Windsheild in it, took it out camping a few times. Then I got the windows tinted and built a rear bumper

Then some HID headlights

Front bumper with some hella 500 lights that I drilled out to fit some 35w HID's into.

I painted the center console and put in a switch for my lights

I took my dremel to the slot in the console to fit that switch. And why white? Well, because, I can.

Put my double DIN stereo in it and found a bezel at the junkyard then painted it.

I'm happy I got it before insurance came and picked it up. I've always loved these 4runners.
Last night I put a new power steering pump in it, the old one was leaking.

Looks like a really great platform. Sometimes I wish I had held out for EFI but I can't complain.

Good luck with your build and welcome to Yota country!

I know what you mean. I recently dropped 2200 into moving into a new house and I'm struggling to afford a brake booster. Oh and this check fell on valentines day so I have to spend truck money on my girlfriend. What the heck

Yep I'm moving 7 hours away and have to tow the runner with a U haul lol. Moving for a job and a house though, good oppurtunity and sometimes you gotta sacrifice. I'll get as much done on her as I can though while I'm still living here!

Sold a 91 Isuzu 4x4 and the guy flat towed it. 2 hours later he called and said the case was burned up. It's so much cheaper learning from others mistakes!

Haha Ya definitley! I think I may be doing double cases soon (waiting on a second case and doing some more research). I would be pissed if I burned em both up!
