JTED's 85 BTTFT Build Up
Hey everyone, just checking in with my first thread. Yesterday I bought an '85 standard cab, 4WD, 22RE, long bed, pretty much everything bone stock. I got it for my 14 year old daughter with the intention of working on it side by side with her for the next couple years. Along the way I'd like to turn it into the coolest Back to the Future truck (minus the extended cab) we can make it. Once she's 16 she can then drive something she can be proud of and in the process make all the guys at her High School jealous, lol. Anyway, don't have time for a long post here but just wanted to check in and put out a photo of the project truck.

Rack and Camper Shell gone!
Looks much better with the lumber rack and camper shell gone! My daughter is in the truck bed after getting the truck cleaned up.

That's a nice clean 85' pickup that you got to start with! I think it's cool that your going to work on it with your daughter, that will give you some good quality time together and she will appreciate the truck more and have something to be proud of when you're finished. I look forward to doing the same when my kids are old enough.

New Rubber and Wheels...
Got the new wheels in this afternoon and immediately got them to the shop to put new rubber on them. Really liked how they turned out, 31x10.50x15 Wrangler Duratrac's and US Wheel Black Modulars...My son's in the back checkin' stuff out.

I saw the latest pic of your truck sitting in the shop. Hopefully they get it done soon. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Since mine is an 87, I was told by one of the gurus to get the extra backspacing.
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it doesn't rub because I'd hate to call summit racing and tell them that the rims I bought almost 2 months ago do not work.
I'll be keeping an eye on your build as well!

You sir could very well be one of the greatest DADs of all time! How lucky of a daughter to have a father who wants to build her a BTTF yota. I hope that I am able to do the same thing for my daughter when she is old enough. Fine gentlemen you are.
That truck looks AWESOME! Who did you have paint it?

Looking good, McFly!!!! You have joined that small elite circle of awesome.
One thing I like to add, the rubber band in the KC light covers will wear out fast. Happened twice. Instead of buying another pair, I ended up going to a fabric store and got some thick elastic string and replaced it. I made the cover more 'loose' and hopefully it will last longer when on for long periods of time.
Welcome to the future!
