Thanks mister. I wonder what he didn't like - the sheet metal to the heavier stock? Interesting that he connected the body and frame. Lucky you though, slightly better ground clearance. I agree with kicking them out slightly and look forward to your design. Nice truck to work with.

sitting here when I got home. my wife says alternator bracket came in but house is all packed up so im not sure where it is.








Also the guy I bought the runner from has bunch of Toyota stuff left. So for $250 im get another spare engine, 2 xfer cases, 2 transmissions and a front axle and a soft top plus misc stuff. Deal if I say so.


Not sure if its bikini top or full soft top. Ill sell it if its full soft top. Cause ill just rip it up on trail I feel.

Nice looking place you have got. I wish I didnt live in town. I have a few more yotas myself. I remember wishing when I could have a 1 or 2 bay garage. They are never big enough. Now I want a 4 bay, lol.. That is a smoking good deal you got for those parts. They will come in handy sooner then you think. Something always come up.

Ok well I took out battery and intake junk. Drained radiator and removed it. Took off belts and took out alternator. Removed old brackets and bam stopped progress.

I leave tmrw but when I get back im put in the gm alternator. New belts. Im take the radiator from my 2nd gen and swap it in. It is exact same size except thicker.
I need to get an elbow for intake swap and some battery cables and the new belts and so on.
The pulley need to be swapped from Toyota alt to gm alt but that's kinda a pain so I am going to just got to a shop and have someone with impact get them off real quick.

Thank you. Ive been working hard on my credit to make it happen. I work on drilling rig and make decent money so that helps but im trying get out of that. I want to be home every night not just two weeks at a time.

Thanks i just got back from a month at work. I got a promotion so ended up switching sides for it. Im actually running errands today including getting some of the stuff for 4runner.

Radiator fluid and hoses, some wiring to extend afm and new battery cables and terminals. Im stopping at a shop somewhere to have the pulleys switched on my alternators. Once i get it all back together ill get the belts and fire her up

Great find on the parts, especially the soft top. I dream at night like a little kid, that I can wake up and find one mounted on my runner.

Well ive slowly been doing some stuff. Got the trailgear alternator bracket in and the alternator in. All new belts in.

Battery and intake swapped. Afm wired in and battery hooked up.

I just need to put in a inline fuse on cable that goes from alternator to battery. Swap in the thicker radiator from my 2nd gen parts runner and put on hoses and fill her up.

Oh and put distributor back in and check timing since i spun engine a bit when did the belts.

Ok so I hooked everything up. Put it all back together and nothing. Not a lick of power. No lights no nothing.


I ran cable from alternator directly to battery with an inline fuse. I just left the old cable wrapped up.


I thought that I had read that I didn't need to hook it up but I must be mistaken. I jumped from battery to fuse box and had power. So tmrw morning I will run a wire from battery to the old cable. That way I have power to fuse box and don't need to upgrade the wiring.


When I jumped it and had power I tried turning her over but nothing but the battery was almost dead. So once I run the wire well see what happens.

It is a very tight fit down there. Which later might suck when changing a belt or replacing the alternator if it is to die.


Looking back some of it was a PITA but if I was to do it it again I could do it much easier and quicker.


I also did the battery and intake swap at same time so that added work and changed a few things. I like how it looks but im not sure if there is any real gains to be had. I am big fan of clean looking engine bays, the simpler things are nicer it is to work on. Cleans it up so im happy with it.

During this ordeal I .....


-put in new radiator hoses (I got the wrong one for bottom so I threw an old one on, once I get correct one ill swap em)
-new belts
-new terminals and new wires
-a spectre filter and afm off of my 3.0 just cause it was attached. I will do supr afm when I find one
-new rad fluid




I was going to swap in the 2nd gen radiator since its thicker but it has additional inlet and outlet. I assume for an internal cooler for tranny maybe??? While I could have just plugged them I started to wonder if it having that in there but not working would effect the performance. Then I thought well maybe ill use them and hook it up to one of the coolers I have on mine but was more work so for now just put the original back in.

Don't mind the intake setup. Im going to find a shorter 90 and am getting new couplings.


I might mess with wiring some more later but its all solid for now. That's a 140 amp fuse though I might go with a bit smaller of one. Battery is solid now where as was just sitting on other side with bungee attached.


Sorry there bad pics, my phone camera lens is cracked. I like it a bit more than I did before. Still am going to do something about all the hoses. I havnt found a really good desmog thread on 22re yet though.

I like the EFI, but I agree with you, I would like to have less hoses in the engine bay. You ought to see what a 22r with a Webber on it is. That is what I would like to have my engine looking like.

So you dont think the battery/AFM is worth the gain and trouble? I have thought of it but wasnt sure if the gain would be worth it.

Well if your talking power gains i doubt it. If it looks good to you and you dont mind spending money then i say go for it. The cheaper you could do it ofr the more worthwhile it would be.

I have not driven it yet though. Im just basing it on how much work and money it is. Its basically all for cosmetic reasons. Im not expecting any seat of pants returns. But it cleans it up and i like that.
