Started trimming the inner radiator support to test fit the box. I got most all the inner trimmed out and somewhat happy on the fit. I didn't really want to cut a huge hole through the front but I may end up doing just that to save me the headache of moving everything forward later if I end up stretching the front end more that the an inch or 2 . As it sits right now I'd be ok on 1 or 2 in stretch but if I ever wanna go more I don't want to cut the ifs box mount back off the frame to move again and re weld.
Pretty far forward for the little I cut out.
This is all you can see cut out from the front , it's gonna open up some more before its in for good, I'd like to get the box another 1/2 or so forward still.

So I'm almost done with the whole ifs box swap , got the frame drilled with the insert tubes in ! I promise after i got steering again updates will be more interesting.
So I cut more out to move box up further
The box is mounted up against frame , it will be a 1/4 in to the right once the ifs mount plates are in.
This pic is deceiving , it looks like I have a lot of space between frame and pitman , but when it swings under the frame I got about a 1/4" of clearance between nut and frame. Which should be enough.
Trimmed both sides of the ifs mount plates a lot to fit the shape of the frame so they weren't hanging way below the frame , here's one side
And the back side plate trimmed to fit sitting on frame inserts
So hopefully after some welding and testing I will have steering again tomorrow?

Got steering! But I may have installed the sector shaft in the box wrong , I will hit the stops on the axel going left , but about an inch or so from hitting the stop when steering wheel locks to the right? Gotta take it back apart and finish welding the plates to the frame.

Didnt feel like doing work so today I played with the forklift. Dont mind the 29" rollers.
Pretty happy with the rear , but I need to massage the front set up a little bit for some more flex.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but I'm new to this whole thing.
What are the benifits of going with an IFS steering box as opposed to your old stock box?
And does the hi steer kit from Trail-Gear work with an IFS box?
Thanks, Josh
