HELP 2006 Sienna Airbag problem
I know there are a lot of Toyota fans on this site (duh!).
Our 2006 Sienna's airbag light started blinking just the other day. My wife took it to the dealer. Harness (whatever that means) plus labor is $3000!!!
They said it was bad. The Sienna has about 68000 miles, and is only 4 1/2 years old. I checked out the web, and I guess I am not the only one with airbag issues.
All I can hope for is that it is covered under the extended warranty be bought with the van, new at the dealer.
I am becoming a NOT Toyota fan, very quickly. Anyone else hear of this?
Sorry for the rant.

Had a similar issue with a 99 Corolla. Took it to a dealership and was told the same thing. Happened to run into a former Toyota master tech at a used car dealership and he solved my problem. My issue was a connector to the drivers seat air bag. His fix was to unplug the harness and bend the pins in the connector 45 degrees or so and reconnect (disconnect the battery 1st). He told me it was a factory service notice fix. Had the light a few years later & did the fix on the passenger seat harness. No problems for years now.

Thanks for the replies.
Yesterday the light was off, all through a 150 mile plus trip. She was also told that if the warning light was off, airbags are OK. So...what the?? It must just be some short, or something.
So I am guessing the harness is in the dash somewhere. I will do some research. I will also try a different dealer.
Thanks again.

Same Airbag Issue
I have a 06 Sienna XLE Limited Edition and the dealership said the same thing about the light the sensor and the airbag was bad and needed to be replaced ($2000.00). This is redonkulous, going to write Toyota.

I have a 2006 Sienna which started giving an airbag warning light signal. I thought it started because of a fender bender and asked the body shop to have an airbag service tech check it out. The tech said the computer showed a history of elevated resistance in the connector under the drivers seat. He cleaned the connection and reconnected the plug. He left a message saying that he was seeing lots of the same thing in 2006 Siennas and didn't think Toyota was treating customers fairly with this issue. He didn't expect his cleaning efforts to last long. He was correct and the warning reappeared in about two weeks. After reading on several forums about owners paying thousands to fix the problem only to be told a few months later they would have to spend just as much to fix the other side I decided to experiment. I used an anti corrosive zinc past designed to inhibit oxidation in electrical connections. I used the brand Penetrox. After disconnecting the battery I disconnected the airbag connector under driver and passenger seats and applied Penetrox. I connected and disconnected each plug about 25 times. I reconnected the battery and the warning light was off and has not returned for 2 months. CHEAP FIX!
