Your Welcome. He was determined to push the limits.

You other guys were giving some great information, I was in the older Fords and forget when they stopped using the I beam. It has been a while since I have messed with Fords. Was hoping it would turn into a great thread on Fords as I like all makes and models.

I changed his comments, as he was way out of bounds of what he was saying. Thanks for not getting stooping to his standards.

That sucks, I missed all the good stuff!
I like that he posted he was incorrect about his truck AFTER I posted that he was wrong and then he went back and read it and got pissed off lol

You may want to consider gettin' a 96 or older ford with the ttb (tib) front suspension. They handle jumping waaaayyy better than my 97 or 99 f150 4x4's could dream of. My old rangers and my 96 bronco were great for bouncing through the woods/jumping frost heaves.

As for the trans in your truck (4r70w 4 spees auto), i've had 3 of them in 3 different vehicles and i can tell you they can take a whoopin'! Only time i was scared of cooking one was towing beyond my 99's towing capacity (has a 5.4 in it). Make sure it's got fluid and it aint bad/burnt fluid.

Rear axle, 8.8 is a good unit. Or find a limited slip 8.8 out of an fx4 with a 4.6.

If you want to hang onto this truck, invest in a good, long arm front suspension for the front. That short arm suspension will pound the hell outta your spine (if you're out jumping it). It may feel soft and comfy around town, but it'll abuse your body once you leave pavement.

My truck is a 1997 ford f150 2door 8FT bed with a 4.6 liter v8....the motor is my consern I'm not sure if it's to heavy or something it's a cast iron block with aluminium heads so I just need help
Too heavy for what? It's just a small V-8. And with aluminum heads, crap you're halfway there. There are a few things you can do to it, pretty much the same thing you do to other engines; open it up, let it breath, cold air intake, bigger exhaust pipe, headers, up the fuel flow, etc. I have a 460 ford, it scats.
