Looks like a clean install on your fuel tank. I seen an old car that was used for hauling moonshine. Those guys were creative back then. I guess every gallon counted back then. I tried some moonshine made around here. It was like swallowing fire burning sand. I have made my own grape wine, it was good.

With all the debacle/fiasco's the past month, just maybe I'm starting to get a bead on this build/fix, but I still haven't finished it yet.
Lot of little tedious things just to finish the fuel tank.

Really swamped at work, but found some time to progress on fuel tank and trunk work.
I used my laser engraver to fab a template from gray plastic to make a cover for spare tire well. This way I could trim template to fit almost perfect.
What a great machine.
Cut out sheet metal from template and just a little bit of triming and it fit well.
The new plate welded in real nice and clean, of course preping the metal makes for cleaner welds. I couldn't be happier with the progress.
I need to pick up a bung to weld on fuel neck for venting fuel tank.
Hopefully next weekend I can get that done.

Not alot of progress lately, started to shave trunk lid, I need a slight radius where licence plate indent is so it looks like it was never there.

Finished shaving the trunk, shaping patch piece was a pain in the a$$.
Shrinking, stretching and just trying to keep it from warping while welding.

Its great to hear from you. I don't get on here as much as I used to.
I'm in real deep on this re-fresh/build. Going to put in another floor pan on drivers side, dug a little deeper to find some bad welding.
So I got to make it right.
Also after I ran a magnet on drivers side rocker panel I found bondo underneath primer.
Cut it out and replaced the mess. Bondo worms!
Terry,
Don't under estimate yourself, with your talents you could do this better than me.
Always amazed at your knowledge and progress on your many projects and builds.
I can't keep up with it a lot of the time lol!
Good work man I'm reading them as much as I can.
Thanks for checking in.

I like the look of the air filter you have on. I kind of like period correct pieces for the most part. The door hinges carry a lot of weight compared to the newer cars.
If you go to put your hood back on, those hood springs will get you if you are not careful. They actually made a tool for removing and installing those spring. I had to do one one time and the guy couldnt find his tool so we improvised. They are strong and take some manuvering.

Just couldn't maneuver (just a little more pain then I could manage) the way I needed to do any work on the shoebox. So i'm doing some lite work until I can start man handling it again.

I like the Air filter also, but hood wont work with it.
That's whats neat about these old rigs, they look good even without hood on lol. I'm sure it's going to take a couple of guys and some tool moding to get springs on hood.
I need to re-work nose job that was done on it anyway.
Very pleased with door hinge mod.
More work on her hopefully coming soon.

I seen a clean looking 4 door '50 Ford today on the road. Always makes my day seeing any older car on the road. Makes for a nice change of scenery from all of the other common looking cars out there. Just checking in to see how things are coming along.

There is a lot of "more doors" out there, coupes are getting rare.
Been slow on my Shoebox, my brother picked up a 69 El Camino and it's been the priority for the last month.
It sat for a long time. so were just completing re-build on front of motor, timing chain, gear WP, seals all the goodies.
Today will see if she fires up with no casualties.
A lot of non automotive activities taking place also.
Had to re-pipe hot water in my house 2 - (slab leaks)
Warped some of new hardwood floor.
Pool needed new pump and re-plumbed.
Heater had gas line leak underground.
I will take some pic's of the repairs today and post back.
Its just been one big lately.

Update: Not alot to show in the last 7-8 months, injuries, work and just to hot to stay motivated.
Fabed up a trunk pop latch, going through wiring and some wheel mods. When the weather cools down I will make some better progress.
Popper opens trunk
Made a adjustable pin that attaches to popper so trunk opens smoothly.
Need to move some of this mess to a grounding block
This was fun
Booster in line fuel pump, these flatheads are notorious for vapor lock as stock fuel pump is factory mounted on top of motor.
Just a mock up right now until I get wheels powder coated
