1985 BJ74 LHD Conversion, FRAME OFF RESTORED!!! ***SOLD***

I have decided that I am going to part with my restored, LHD 1985 BJ74.

I purchased this cruiser a few years back, with full intention of converting it to LHD and restoring it. I decided that the conversion should be done precisely as it would have been from the factory. I used an identical year BJ70 LHD for parts for the conversion.

Currently has 205,000 KM (125,000 miles)on it, so I have put about 7,000 KM (4,200 miles) on it. I have been getting 21-22 MPG---I did get 26 MPG on a road trip. Drives really nice down the road, everything works perfectly. Starts right up every time. Factory glow system works great. Runs 60 PSI oil pressure when warmed up, 40 PSI at idle. I have not done a compression test. EGT about 800 on the road and 8 PSI boost. I have installed a waste gate boost controller under the hood. Current max boost is set at 14, but I have only gotten there once on a full throttle run, for testing. I have never taken it off road, or in the winter since restoration.

You can read the entire process in the build thread, so I won’t go into details here except to summarize a few of the extras.

I will post some pics, but more can be seen at the following link:

I upgraded a few items:

ARB front bumper modified to work with the factory PTO winch. Custom built 3/16 skid plate to protect the winch. Southeast Overland winch rope. JDM land cruiser yellow fog lights

Complete Ironman suspension with greasable anti inversion shackles.

Added FRP flares, imported from down under.

Replaced all foam seals in the complete heating system, and all the vents

Powdercoated frame Wheel housings and all exhaust shields. I powdercoated everything I could.

New OEM Windshield glass and all new OEM seals on all glass.

Underhood hardware yellow zinc plated. Repainted engine and everything under the hood. Take a look at the engine in the build thread. Put a new OEM water pump and a new starter on the motor. Rebuilt the injectors. New belts, hoses and all vacuum lines. Needed nothing else.

All rewiring was done under hood and under the seats , nothing under the dash. This was done to make it easily serviced. Fuse box was moved to the correct place in the left kick panel. Wire splices were soldered, taped and heat shrink applied. All wires were placed in split looms.

Redarc 24V to 12V Tail light converted with 7 pin connector

Interior was completely covered with dynomat sound deadening. Seats are the original, and the interior is in real nice shape. The only thing I replaced was the door panels—custom made vinyl similar to the original pattern, headliner, and the outside of the right front seat, as the vinyl had a crack.

ISSPRO EGT, Boost and Oil Pressure gauges

New Factory Air conditioning condenser added for the LHD

Fluid Film applied to the inside of all body panels.

All doors shut perfect, door, hood and fender gaps are all perfect. Not an air leak or rattle anywhere.

Many, many new OEM parts installed in the restoration. Too many to list! If I could get it new from the OEM, I got it!

Price is $35,000/best offer/trade. Fairly open on trades, so let me know what you have

I have clear Minnesota title in my name.

Feel free to ask any questions—PM is best, or post away for general questions.

By older, I am thinking about approximately 2000 to 2010 model years.
