new 285/75/16's just got delivered
You read that right! My 285/75/16 Treadwright Guard Dogs just got delivered. Can't complain for 650$ for 5 skins delivered to my door.
The soft 8's (or a facsimile thereof) will be here next week and I'll get them mounted, also get to try out my new spare tire carrier on the 89 at the same time.
Let the drooling begin.

The invoice stated 61lbs per tire but they don't feel that heavy when I lift them. I'm going to gain some weight going from 31/10.50/15's and SR5 alloys to these and steel wheels but I'm hoping it won't kill my millage.

Sweet, man! My guard dogs were E rated. So they weighed in at 59 lbs each, for a 245/75/16! It killed my mileage, which is why I am searching out for a good price on 265/75/16 duratracs, which weigh in at 45 lbs. Can't wait to see em mounted!

Don't forget they wear like iron no matter what you put em through.

I went with the D rated version so I could air it down to about 8lbs when I'm in the rocks and not hate the sidewall stiffness. Hope it works....

sounds like a plan.
I am dropping to a C range. Mine is too nice to be an ORV rig. Mine is a DD/ weekend warrior. Leaving open diffs, unless you swap to 4.88's and sell me your diffs, of course.

That's probably the next step. Either that or 5.29s.
edit: Hey mine is nice also and definitely a DD/weekend rig I just like being double locked. Trust me when I say if you end up double locked you'll still wheel with the crazies on oddball trails and keep the paint pretty, I do.

Yeah the guy mounting the tires had some questions about that also. He was worried that the sidewalls were made in 2004, and the tread is new, and that the tread didn't match the sidewalls. When I told him they were retreads he seemed a little shocked that someone would actually buy them.
