temp guage on my 1994 4runner 4x4 with manual trans reads in the red

I have a 1994 4runner with the 3vze v6 motor. When driving on a warm to hot day, the temp guage reads in the red even though it is not boiling over. My mchanic says the temp is 195 degrees when he puts his heat gun on the motor.

My oil pressure guage reds zero but the mechanic says he got 95 pounds of pressure with a manual guage.

We replaced the guage cluster with a used one and that seemed to fix the problem but two days later the same problem accured with the replacement gauge cluster.

The engine was just rebuilt by the mechanic, the fan clutch, thermostat and radiator cap have all been replaced.

On top of all that, the check engine light came on. The code read the engine knock sensor. The mechanic replaced the pigtail to the sensor and the knock sensor but the check engine light came back on after the codes had been cleared.

The truck runs great but all the gauge problems and the check engine light coming on are driving me crazy and it's a short trip.

The truck is stock with no engine mods. HELP!!!

Thanks for any help any of you can suggest. I live in Souther Oregon.
