The Swap is On! Toyota,Mercruiser and Chevy?

Couldn't resist this MPI Mercruiser intake for my new .030 over 4.3 v6, megasquirt 2 and EDIS should be sweet!

The 22re just wasn't enough for those long 8% grades in Colorado.

So the question remains what do you call a Toyota,Chevy and Mercruiser?

Nice motor! I'd like to swap some Vortec heads onto my 350.

Whats the difference in the Mercruiser engine? Cooling?

I think the rockers are beefed up, since the Mercruiser is made for running higher RPM for long periods of time. I think the cam is different, the cooling is more efficient, and the pistons are more durable. I think.

Maybe call it a Chevota Cruiser?

Thats better than a toylet boat.

Note that the 4.3 I am using is from a '00 1500 pickup, W series engine 190 hp. I completly rebuilt w/ stock roller cam, .030 over perfect circle pistons....

I found this 220 hp Mercruiser MPI intake on ebay brand new for $251 w/sensors, injectors it just looked too cool to pass up for that cheap.
With the Megasquirt 2 fuel and spark controller, I should be well over 200 hp and the EDIS distributorless ignition will give me the firewall clearance I need to keep the body lift to a minimum.

Good question! I have the engine harness from the donor to build most of what I need ( the same sensor connectors) but I will need to go to the salvage yard for a loom for the v8 injectors from a late model multiport chevy.

The Megasquirt 2 will run the injectors and the EDIS, fuel and spark totally programmable. My buddy runs it on his 130 hp sprint engine Samurai and during our trip to colorado this year he used 1/3 the fuel of my 22re and his plugs looked like they were just pulled out of the box after a week on the trails.

When you are in town, I'll buy the first round. Are you out of Colorado already or are you staying around for awhile. I'm in Denver.

I'm back in Tx, where does the Denver crowd go to wheel? We did Hancock pass, Alpine tunnel and Tincup this year.
BV area is cool but we were meeting friends in Lake City so we didn't have much time.

swap update

I am getting my 700r4 tranny this week and will tear it apart this weekend to see what it needs. I found a gear drive toy transfer case (RF1A I think ) locally, as soon as I pick it up this weekend I will know its spline count so I will be able to order the correct advance adapter kit
The EDIS 6 ignition is being shipped and the megasquirt 2 is soon to follow. I finally have the $$ to finish the swap.
I think before I begin the installation I should do the 2" body lift for better cooling and engine fit.
It just came to mind that the EDIS is from a Ford so I will have a Toy, chevy, ford and mercruiser. I may be close to being Banned from yotatech just on percentages.
A good off topic thread.
" Should texcat101 be banned?"
