95' 4Runner 3.0 > sbc 350 swap
here she is.
got the hood off, ready to get to work.
almost ready to pull the old 3.0
hey everyone, new to this motor swapping business so I need some help.
My truck has the factory automatic transmission and transfer case and I was curious if it would match up and hold up to the sbc 350 or if I would need to upgrade the transmission and xfer case??? I can only find info on the 5 speed to sbc, but not the automatic.

I'm not a lot of help here as far as what will match but do consider a GM trans. What year (carb, TBI, TPI, etc) engine are you planning? The question of,"will it hold up" can be answered by your level of right foot discipline. A V8 does not make a race car (got that, Pirate?).

if it were me i would use a chevy trans and tcase as the output is on the same side for the front diff. youll spend less money on adapters and chevy drivetrains are a dime a dozen and cheap!

your 4runner has the a340h which is a dog anyway and has its own issues. i would use a th350 or 700r4 with a np tcase or put a toyota gear drive case off the back with an inchworm adapter. i put a 383 and chevy drivetrain in my 4unner in high school. its not too bad but back then it took me 3 months. if you have a welder some fab tools and some scrap you can fab most the stuff you will need if you use a chevy trans and tcase. I modded the chevy crossmember from a k5 to bolt to my toyota frame.
