1990 2wd 22r to sbc or sbc questions
Well after searching and searching for hours on end I can't find some of the answers I am looking for so I decided to join.
I picked up a 90 2wd was planning to just run it as a daily and decided I wanna v8 swap it. I originally started as wanting a 1jz then went to ls1/t56 (not put of the question) but now I'm really leaning toward a small block ford or Chevy. Some questions I have are
1- can I buy a direct set of mounts to bolt the motor in and take some of the guess work out there?
2- trans-- what my best option? I'm gonna hammer on the thing and I'm not gonna just throw a stock 302/350 in it. If I get the adapter from northwest to run a 5 speed trans would that be enough or should I source a 5 speed from a fox body or something? What's involved in running a fox body t5 if I do go that route?
3- what are my options for suspension I would like to lower it and put some 17 inch wheels with some upgraded brakes...is clearance gonna be an issue?
4- headers or manifolds....what's my best option for exhaust with either engine? Or just build s custom set?
As stated my main concern is motor mounts to get the motor where it needs to be. I can tackle a pluming and all that but I'm concerned on mounts since I just can find a solid answer that "these mounts will place a 302 ford into a 2wd 22r engine bay"
Also gonna go from carb and stay carb weather I go ford or Chevy. Ford is probably a bit easier being a small motor and the front distributer
Any links to other threads or places to get parts would be greatly appreciated. Just looking for some cut and dry answers before I start ripping and tearing

You can buy adapter plates that fit between stock frame pad and engine isolator but are kinda cheesy. I went with these weld-in mounts from AA when I did my first 4.3 swap.
These are stout and don't allow a whole lot of movement. With the V8 swap, I fabbed up new block brackets but kept the pads frame mounts.
It all holds up just fine.
Why the carb over the EFI?
