need some help with more power on 0m617
By no means am i a mechanic, and been reading several post on peoples swaps, and was wanting to get a truck and do the swap and ended up finding one for sale about 10 min from the house, (end up finding the truck on this forum where the original owner posted everything he has done to the truck). but when he sold it to the guy i bought it from he had turned the fuel and boost back down to stock. after driving it the last 4 days i would like to find out how to turn it back up?? i can find people taking about it but can't find anything showing how to do it. Most boost i can get is 8-9 (original owner said he had it at 12-14 and was able to run 80-90mph), most the truck will run is 60mph unless coming down a hill to a flat road it will run steady at 70, but when i get to a hill or a bridge i am having to down shift to get over with out losing to much speed. Just want to be able to get on a highway.
and is there any draw backs to turning it up or is there anything else it can do??
Also the truck i got was built by Caselite, that is his name on this forum.
Thanks for any help.

well after reading through several post on superturbodiesel.com, guess there is not much you can do, with out opening up the IP. i did plug off the hose going to the westgate to see how much more boost i would get and it only went up about 2-3 psi? i would have figured more, or is that a sign that turbo is getting weak? before doing that i also made sure the lines going to my boost guage and to the alda were clean and the bolt's with the holes in them were clean also.
would it do any good to delete the alda?
Here is another question though. i finally got the power steering hooked up. mercedes pump to toyota power steer box, and am not getting pressure (i asume) because it is not working. when truck is running it looks good, but when i put it in gear it starts making noises sounds like clutch? when i take it out of gear noise goes away. pull belt back off of power steering pump (since not working) drive down road again to try and figure noise out, does not make it any more, so know it has to be some thing with the powersteering but what could it be since it only makes the noise while in gear???

Adla delete will improve you're off idle throttle responce, nothing else. what gears and tires are you running? on my runner with 4.56 and 32s i can cruse 80 all day. but with my 36s i can only do 65 before my egts get to 1150f and i have to back off. as for your power steering make duble shure u don't have your plumbing reversed. Good luck man

waltt, thank you
toastyjosh, i was looking at puting one on but after unhooking the hose going to the wastegate and pluging it and only increasing the boost by 2-3 psi, and considering the is were the boost controlers hook up (least the ones i found) i did not see how one could help any.
if i change the gears over to 4.88 will that help me get the mpg up also? and what does it take to change them out? will i need a whole kit of just the gears?
i am on my 4th tank and average 18-20 mpg, would like to get it up to least 25+ if even possible.

You will get your best mileage if you drive around 2500 rpms thats the peak torque on these engines. If you're not familiar with mechanics you probably don't want to try setting up your own diffs. You can usually pick up gear sets for around 200 Per axle for quality ones. Plus the set up kit and labor. Yucon and Richmond are Both quality gear sets.

Just read the build thread its a sweet truck, he really did not say what he did as far as turning it up.
I did see this :
I'm running stock 4:10 gears with 33" tires, I think it's almost dead on rpm wise. At 60 Its running around 2k rpm, the engine likes 70mph and I've had it up to 90mph just messing around. My best mpg all highway has been 29mpg going 65mph, while mixed driving lately has gotten me 26mpg going 60mph.
So if your having issues, this leads me back to the motor. Have you changed the fuel filter? Try the diesel purge again.
Try and contact the previous owner and ask him how he tuned it up.
You could have a tired turbo, could look for a junk yard turbo.
