It has been done and has been done recently. There was a guy on www.toyotadiesel.com that did this swap. But I think he used the Mecr auto tranny. But you should be able to figure out some way to mate the two together if you are going that deep into a project.

I had wanted to do the same swap. I wish I wasn't in such a rush to get this thing I got on the road. I'm sure it is a matter of time before this one blows too. Keep us informed and post s link to the thread you are talking about.

I wasn't saying anything about their pricing. I've looked at them, but not for quite a while. I had remembered them being expensive and knew there is a reason I've never expected to be able to afford this conversion.

Also, they are close to me and in the States; Grass Valley, California. Instead of Ontario, Canada.

Read a little more and you'll see they do have adapters for several Toyota transmissions. . .

Someone turned me on to them for their Hy-steer setup a couple years ago.
Check it out. I've never seen another setup like theirs: http://www.4x4labs.com/steering.shtml
I like the idea, But found a much better deal with Marlin (free). So that's what I ended up going with. Though, I might consider changing down the line.

Sorry! Not trying to Hi-Jack your thread! : )
I've liked the idea of the Mercedes swap since I was steered toward 4x4labs. Until now, they were the only ones I knew of doing this swap.

Keep us posted, we're looking forward to seeing where you go with this and how your swap works out for your!

for the increase in power and torque its worth every penny
not to mention the the increase in fuel economy
the 4runner its in has 5.29's and 38.5's tsl's
in 4low it crawls nicely along the trails
pain in the a** for us guys behind him in gas trucks but w/e
that things a beast
for anyone interested in the swap contact the shop or pm me and ill get more details out to you
