I've hit a snag

Ok so I've been doing research on the om617 swap and I'm pretty damn confident about it, but the only thing I'm worried about is the trans cooling lines that are integrated into the 22re rad. Will these cooling line match up to the mercedes rad? Or any ideas for the trans cooling?

Im not sure if the mercedes rad had the lines in it. the factory toyota one is just a loop through pipe in the rad. you could just but a small trans cooler and atach it to the rad. most trucks come that way and in my honest opnion it would cool better.

If i run a small cooler where would be the best spot for it to get good air flow. I plan on putting a pusher fan in front of my rad, and i dont like trans coolers that are on the undercarriage[had some bad experiences with them and getting hit with debris]

Just thinking out of the box a little but how about an off center or center small hood scoop and mount it to a bracker/holder on the under side of the hood with enough hose to flex when the hood is open. just an idea its always a battle of money vs what you want

I am going to put the OM617 oil cooler in my hood.
As for price im sure you can fine a cheaper one that’s the first one I found with a good picture.
And trans or oil cooler will work with any fan as long as you make a good fitting shroud

Just run a V6 auto rad, has roughly same coolant capacity as the merc rad, mounts flusher to the core support than a 4cyl rad and tranny cooler lines should hook right up. Still wouldn't hurt to add an auxiliary cooler down the road, heat is the #1 way to kill an automatic.

One thing you might consider is summit has aftermarket aluminum rads for not much more than a stock replacement. Some of them have a built in trans cooler.
