For the water temp, are you going to adapt the stock toyota sensors to the merc thermosrtat? I started working on adapting accessories tonight, and found that both the merc and yota thermostats have 2 sensors in them. I'm going to look for an adapter that will let me screw in the stock yota sensors.

Just curious, is there an alternative to modifying the oil pan? This is the first thread that mentions such a thing.

I do not know how much clearance there is with a solid axle but with the IFS in my case the mod's on the oil pan are needed to clear the steering tie rod, the alternitave is moving the motor forward and or raising the motor, in which case the radiator would be in the grill and the valve cover would be out the hood, you could maybe use a 3" body lift for the heigth issue but I wanted to keep my CG low. More updates will be coming soon.

Hey there Dmarsh, I was wondering if you used the stock Toyota power steering pump?

And for your water temp sensors, did you have 2? I have 2 probes, Joe only has 1 on his. I'm trying to figure out if I have to run both, or what the other one is even for.

Pyrojoe, sorry for the delayed response, yes I am using the toyota P/S pump, if you look towards the bottom of page two of this thread there are pictures of the pump and bracket and mounted on the motor, as for the temp sensors I have two, but have not goten far enough to know what I need to use yet

Your workmanship is very nice.
Your pan notch and motor location as far as I can tell from pics are with steering stabilizer relocated maybe to the rear of tie rod.
Is that correct?

Snow in Arizona and 70 degrees in Kansas in January. WEIRD!

If you have any ideas on the water temp sensors, please let me know asap. Gotta have this thing done by next Saturday (leavin for my internship). Thanks!

inskeep - Thanks, and yes the steering stabilizer will be mounted behind the tie rod

B-yodaful - for suspension so far all that has been done is torsions have been cranked up a little, I am not sure how much more the Mercedes weighes over the stock six cylinder

pyrojoe - as far as the temp sensors on the Mercedes I believe one is for the glowplug relay to sense if they are needed for starting and how long they stay on.

My confusion is that I have 2 probes from the 22R. Roger Brown said some have 2 probes that measure resistance between eachother, like mine, and then there's single probes like Joe's that measure resistance between the probe and the ground of the block. I don't know where I would install the second probe. Room is tight.

I have never heard of that set up where two temp probes measure resistance between each other, why cant you just get a single probe and install it ?

draggin209 - In my case this 4Runner is basicaly being bulit from various componets and is not currently registered I will try for a special construction registeration which should register to the year of motor, if that fails I will register it to my other address out of state.
