Diesel Swap Advice
Hi Guys,
Long time reader, Hardly ever poster here. Just like to say thanks to all who have done tech write-ups here on the Tech, I couldn't have done it without many of you blazing the way. Anyways back on to my question. I have always wanted to do a om617 swap. Its what i was originally going to put into my 91 4runner but i ended up doing a 3.4 due to someone throwing away a still running 3.4. Ive been fortunate enough to run into a 98 single cab 5speed 4x4 taco with a sick 3rz. Its something simple(so i think) in the wiring harness. Do you think it would be insane to want to pull a 3rz and put in the om617? i have ran into a motor and the adapters for cheap so cost is not a worry. Or should i just fix the 3rz and move the 617 into my 4runner. The 3.4 has been great but i would like to get a rig made up for some serious range and reliability aka om617 with a dual tank setup. Anyone with direct swap experience chiming in would be prefered.- Mike
