buying tdi advice

Neighbor wants to sell parts off his 97 VW Tdi. I don't really know what model of car it is, just the year, it's a diesel, and stick shift. LOL
I don't have immediate plans for a swap, but could be a possibility in the future. The more I read, (2 days so far) lol, The more interested I am.

So If I decided to buy this 1z motor, What do I need to slash and grab? Engine, ecm, and wiring harness? I need to know asap, cause this car is headed to the crusher soon!
I can buy the whole car for 400 bucks, but the body must go bye bye.. within a week. 'wife mandate'.

What are you trying to put it in?

Taking a VW front wheel drive motor and putting it in a Toyota rear or 4wd vehicle is a bit of a custom Frankenstein.

You'll have to track down an adapter to mate a transmission to it. All the wiring, harness, ECU you can get your hands on.

Basically you will be running a VW inside a Toyota chassis.

not 100% sure on the recipient.. but I've got a 1994 Toyota pickup that may be on a short list.
Honestly, just a couple days of searching posts, vendors, completed projects... I feel fairly confidant about it.
