If the 4runner had a 22re then it didnt have the r150 or the r151. The r150 was used with the 3.0 and the r151 was used with the 22rte turbo motor. Its possible it had the w56 but not sure. The trans code can be found on the plate on the inside of the drivers door panel. If you do a search you can find out how to read those plates. I did it once but dont remember how to do it. To answer your question about strength, either the r151 or the r150 should hold up to the power of that motor. This is one of my favorite build threads with a 1uzfe. https://www.yotatech.com/f191/yota-3.../#post51399201 Check it out. there are even a few youtube videos of this truck.

The vehicle info plate on the 86 is under the hood on the top of the firewall in the center. The one on the door just gives you tire sizes, pressures etc.
Your truck as stated already is probably a w56, mine is, unless yours was ordered with an optional transmission.
The 1UZ-FE never had a standard trandmission behind it, except in Japanese ambulances, so you are going have to fabricate a bellhousing or buy one from Australia or New Zealand to fit a W or R series transmission. The other option is to use an auto bellhousing with an adapter plate(that's the route I'm going) and either build your own clutch fork pivot assembly or go with an internal hydraulic throw out bearing. There are advantages to both.
If you find a complete R151F transmission and transfer case you have the advantage of a gear transfer, if you use an R150 your transfer case will be chain drive unless you purchase one of the many adapters out there to connect a gear case to the R150.

as far as what transmission to use hadmatt54 put it the best. the r151 is the best as it has the gear case. but the cheapest one i have ever found the guy was asking like 1100 bell the t-case. you could just go with a r150f. they are plenty strong. i would also change out your rear third as well. i do believe 4.0 pickup has blown 2 4cyl rear ends so far. as i think the 4 and 6cyl diffs are different. for the bell housing i got mine from ks racing. but you cant get them off the web side anymore they are on ebay. got mine for 450 i think and used a 3.0 flywheel that i had modified.. and dunkin got some mounts that are premade to use 22re mounts i do believe. and for doing that swap in that year RMA is the best one to ask on that for what all you will need do do.
