Cool Video, and nice work, man! I can't wait to finally have the cabbage and secondary rig to do this. I've been looking for an 84-85 for quite a while... but they're all TOTALLY jackholed up, lol. And they're asking like 3500$ for CRAP! Ridiculous. I found an 85 in Apple Valley for 1000$... No motor, rebuilt trans. Someone snatched it before I could get out there(b4 I could get time off work, grrr.... Holidays+Chef=NO TIME FOR ME! hahaha).

I WILL find one, eventually. Have a good one, bud, ... hope you're having a great New Year!

so this truck just got back from a trip to salt lake city Utah .. the truck averaged 18mpg hwy.. three adults 1 child ,clothes ,smaller spare parts, tools and some food , or snacks . depends on what you consider food
We did nothing to this engine as far as maintenance , installed it just as we bought it , no new plugs wires caps rotors stuff like that and it has 249,000 miles on it .
be intersting to see how much this changes after a complete tune up .

Well, everyone else here may be impressed with your work, but i'm not! Nope, not til you get a M/T behind the UZ.

P.S. Ok, i lied....I AM impressed, probably a bit jealous also. You should really do an M/T next, you know, just to keep your skillz sharp.(and so i can copy your notes)

RIGHT ON, RMA! That's great news... I'm REALLY still itching to do this, but I've hit about every snag with this current runner that could happen! lol. Gotta tuck my first trans rebuild away and reseal/gasket up the whole T-case and I'll be thinking/looking on/for a project rig the whole while to do this!

to be honest, I'm a lil torn between this and the 3RZ....but man, that THROATY ROAR! lol.

I'm amazed at what I've learned since I first posted on this thread! hahahaha! Ok, it's not much compared to some...but I'm getting there, lol.

Thanks for the input and occasional shooting of the ......yeah. lol.

Nice RMA, this is something most guys avoid when putting in the 1UZ, interested to see how you overcame it.

well RB i really didnt do any of the work on the ac stuff besides letting my friend the owner of this red runner use my shop (Garage ) and the use of my small lathe .. he used it to make a small part , a fitting i guess to connect the hoses to the ac's radiator up front. he was having fun while i was working .. this was the first thing hes ever made with a lathe and it actually worked , and he didnt hurt himself

any way heres some pics .

the sunroof was $50 complete with motor.. the switch ,harness and headliner off the range rover were extra .. it was less than $100.

we spent some time at the pick n pull looking at different sunroofs .. the owner of the 4runner was originaly going with a saturn sunroof , but we got lucky and found the range rover , it had 2 sunroofs one in the front and one at the back .. they were both exactly the same .

its nice and is nicely contained the bottom pan bolts to the sunroof and squeezes the sheet metal real good .

my friend cut the sunroof off the range rover and used the range rovers sheetmetal as a template when cutting his 4runner.

hes going to make a headliner out of both the range rovers and 4runners then have a shop upholster it.

ill get some better pics later.
