Want to swap a 5VZ MT ECU for a AT ECU?

I'm getting ready to start my swap and my donor vehicle is a 2000 4Runner SR5 4WD with auto transmission. I can make this truck's ecu work but would rather use a manual transmission ecu if I can find one. Anyway, if anyone wants to trade ecus, please let me know. Here is a pic of mine.

This guy had an ecu for sale a while ago. It's a 98 but still might work.

Thanks.
I need to look into the compatibility of the ecms between year models. I know some of the earlier ones had different maf sensors and a few other odds and ends that add extra work to the project. Not sure if the 98 is different. I know the 96 is.

Nah. The engine and cab harness that I have is in immaculate shape. I'll find me an ecm or use this one. Not really in a big hurry. Just thought somebody may have pulled their donor out of a manual rig and might be in the same boat I am.

Red face

If I had an extra I would be glad to share.

I need to send one out to ECM Depot to be rebuilt as it is

Seems the 2000 manual Trans is quite difficult to find

Did this still have one emission package for federal and one for California ??

If so which do you need ??

I think there were two versions in 2000. Mine is the lesser regulated. It has the collector flange below and bolted to the crossover pipe and a single cat. I'm sure this one I've got will work but will give me a check engine light if I don't feed it some signals to make it think everything on the transmission is working. Just more wiring and research. I'm still a couple months out on my swap project. That should give me enough time to find one.

Thanks for the offer and likewise on sharing spare parts.

can you use it, yes. however it will throw auto codes unless you can defeat them. when we put V6s in MR2s a resistor in the right pins will fix that. but with the newer smarter ECU's not so much.

Feed them the right resistance at the right time and they'll believe anything you tell them. ECM's are all binary. They all can be tricked.
