Well folks, I'm diving into the deep end of the pool.

I have a 95 4Runner with a blown 3. slow. Head gaskets are gone and she's blowing oil out of the valve covers. 239,000 miles and she's cabbage. The truck is out of Texas and has absolutely zero rust, a rarety for any vehicle here in Chicago.



Just bought a rolled salvage 99 4Runner with the 3.4 and auto trans. This truck is a wreck and after only two days on the driveway, the neighbors are starting to look at me funny. Gotta pull this thing apart ASAP so I can get it off to the junk yard.



Now, off I go to read the seven thousand 3.4 swap posts. Wish me luck!

Part that 99 out. I got the same year donor except it was a 5 speed and about the same condition.

I couldn't believe the things people wanted to buy and how far they came to get what they needed. It paid for my swap and I'm actually money ahead.

I also used all kinds of small parts and hardware from it. You can straighten, cut, rebend and flare fuel and brake lines. Heat shields, muffler hangers, you name it. Why buy stuff you can salvage and have actual Toyota parts and hardware.

I was going from a 22RE so I needed more than you will. Don't waste it by taking a few things and hauling it off to the bone yard.

Must agree. Keep it until you are finished. There are a lot of little items that you will need in order to complete you swap. Plus, as it has already be said, you can make a lot of money back out it if you sell the items that you don't need.

Making progress. The 99 is pretty much just a shell at this point. The neighbors are downright pissed at this point! :-)

I feel your pain. The old lady across the street is on the HOA committee.

I got lucky. My son in law's family has a towing business. I pulled as much as I could in my driveway. Before my HOA could get on my ass my son in law hauled it to his property where I got to finish parting it out.

All the stuff you save is going to come in handy. Especially OEM hardware.
