89 4runner 3.4 swap w/r150f trans

First of all Hello, So I have done a swap on my 4runner. I have converted my trans from auto to standard. I have used a 3.4 pressure plate, flywheel and clutch w/ a 3.0 throw out bearing and pilot bearing hope that is correct?
the issue that I am having is that when I start my truck up the w/ the clutch out it has a chatter sound coming from the trans. I have tried to adjust the clutch pedal and it doesn't make a difference. The funny thing on this is sometimes if I drive it for awhile the chattering go's away. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Akamon808 from Hawaii

What M/T are you using, one from a 3.0 or 3.4 truck? The bellhousing and input shaft are different lengths on the two applications, but all the other internals should be the same; this is why you need the different throwout bearing.

I used the 3.4 flywheel, 3.4 starter, 3.4 clutch disk, and 3.4 pressure plate but used a 3.0 throwout bearing to match my 3.0 trans.

I'd also recommend you get a buddy and re-bleed the clutch, it really is a 2 person job, one to push the pedal and one to open/close the bleeder valve.

I used a 3.0 trans from a 90 truck. tried bleeding system many times. even with the clutch slave unbolted from trans I cant move the throw out bearing arm. Going to try to drop trans this weekend and see if the arm is sitting in the correct position.

Hey man, I am having similar issues with my r150 manual 3.4 swap. Mine ran decent for about 3-4 months and not i get creeping while in gear (clutch catching if in gear clutched in) and mine chatters at startup.... at least thats how it started...

I know for me I am dropping the tranny and checking the throwout bearing. If it is not seated properly. It is VERY easy to knock the throwout bearing out of alignment if you didnt drop your tranny for your swap ( I know I didnt). Do what SacRunner suggests first, I ended up changing my master and slave as well hoping that would be the problem.......

Anyway I am subbing cause im curious to see what you find.

Good Luck

ok, been away for awhile. pulled trans out only to find that I put a washer behind the pressure plate and it moved it out about 1/8 or less. just enough to hit the throw-out bearing arm. everything is good now.
