Ok so here is my dilemma, I have a 1992 3.slow a/t. I have a 99 4runner 2 wd with a 3.4 (wrecked) as the motor donor. I horse traded for a 1982 4runner for the front axle, body and interior is total junk but the 22r motor and trans are great. I have been reading a ton on both and the axle conversion I feel comfortable with. The motor swap wiring and trying to figure out how to make my auto trans shift right intimidates me. Other than the trail gear lift I bought right now I am in very cheap on this. The 99 I got for free as I own a wrecker service and the kid that wrecked it signed the title over, the 82 I did some odd and end work on it and installed a hitch ($140) and a radio (radio free install kit $50).
So my question is should I buy a 99ish 4runner and just do the sas (cant find a lot of info on those or a kit) and bypass the engine swap or bite the bullet and do the 92 4runner with the engine and axle swap? again I have read a lot and not to be big headed but I am a pretty good wrench. Just nervous about the wiring. Please point me in the right direction.
