i ran the starter wire up into the fusebox with the new battery cable. i had to slightly enlarge the hole going into the fusebox because i used a thicker than stock cable, and that left enough room for the starter wire as well. i then spliced the starter wire into the black/white wire that connects to the starter relay.

And that's where mine was different. I'm pretty sure that I don't have a starter relay in my fuse box. Both you and Andrew Zook's website both say the same thing. I'm almost positive I had to run a wire from my body harness.

yeah i dont have a starter relay in the underhood fuse box either, i was just going to attach it to the 90 body harness, but does it have to go to the STA pin on the ecu also?

We both have '91s and I believe that ours are under the dash, driver's side.
I don't think I hooked to the STA on the ECU. If I remember correctly, I couldn't figure out what that did. I seem to recall that it's for detecting the starter engagment, but don't quote me.

Dont hook it to the ecu, thats just to tell the ecu that you are cranking it. If you hook it to that spot on the ecu, you are likely to fry that wire due to excessive current draw. It may work, but I would not try that with my harness. Instead, hook it up the right way with the starter relay...

The starter wire on my 98 t100 3.4 5spd harness went to a different series than my 95 4runner auto trans. I left the origional 3.4 starter wire unused next to the battery wire wich i used. I used the 2 3.0 starter wires coming from the trans. and picked up the two spots in the middle of the grey 4.3 plug and pinned them to match the drawings i downloaded from toyota tech info. Things seemed pretty much straitforeward after i cipherd the difference between the two start circuits. If yours is manual trans there may still be a differance between the year models for the start circuits.

Yeah I was tracing some wires last night and found that the starter solenoid wire goes into the battery wire loom and has a connector by the battery. I think I can do it one of two ways. Pull it out of that loom and reroute it to the passenger side kick panel, or bring it through the drivers side of the fire wall and connect it directly to the starter relay. It will depend on which is easier to route.

i got my ecu today hooked it up and truck wont start, its getting spark but no fuel, i turn the key on and fuel pump wont run, when i crank the engine, thats when i get fuel im stumped? any help would be helpful

Have you got your OBDII port hooked up yet?
I borrowed a diagnostic tool from the local auto parts store when I got to the "done but won't stay running" stage and it helped me know what to look for.
Without it, I'd be starting at square one going back over all my connections.

i think its definatly a fuel problem, the fuel pump shuts off after i stop cranking the motor, then when fuel pressure runs out the motor shuts off, so im missing something, but i dont know what.

good call rob i checked the circut opening relay green/yellow wire on the body harness and it wasnt hooked up so i hooked it up to the greem/yellow wire that goes to FC(i think stands for fuel control) on the ecu and now it stays running, but it runs like crap, ill give it a quick stab of throttle and it wants to bog, i wonder if its the autozone tps i got? ill do what elvota said and scan it, hopefully that will tell me something

i got it!, on top of hooking up the green wire i also needed to hook up the white/red wire which is on the circuit opening relay that puts power to to alot of things like the tps and idle air control, ill post all my connection later on, thanks couldn't of done it without your guys help
