Holy dealership prices Batman!

My CE light has been popping on for a while now so i ran the code and came up with an o2 sensor. I stopped by my local dealership tech office this morning and told them how i had heard that these would be replaced for free by toyota after 80k miles. the dude told me its free AT 80k not after or before. I'd be $111 for the work (which is insulting considering i can change it in about 5 minutes and would but let him do his price thing) and $161.68 for the new sensor. F that yo. so is he right that its only at 80K? any thoughts?

This is for your 86? If so, then you ain't going to get a free lunch.

The 8 year / 80k mile Federal Emissions warranty does not cover sensors, just cats and ecu. Your 86 is beyond the 8 years anyways, regardless of mileage.

The o2 sensor for an 86 is like $40 from autozone, and it does only take a few minutes, provided the flange bolts don't break off. DIY, to hell with the dealer.

I believe it is a single wire sensor, and the wire must be cut and spliced.

Buy a Denso one, just like OEM online for $40 and put it in yourself. 15 minutes tops and splice two wires.

$160 is ludicrous, but that is the NON DIY price and how they make their money!
