Anyone in LA?

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading this forum off and on for a couple years slowly making some simple upgrades to my 94 V6.

I've been keenly curious about the 1UZ swap but I confess, I haven't done any serious wrenching since I was a teen with my dad and brother-inlaw, but those were pre-computer, non-injecting days. For something like this I would definitely need a swap buddy who might even have done this swap or know how to tackle it with all the available info here and elsewhere - and a place to do it as I only have street parking. Myself, I have no problem getting down and dirty and I'm not mechanically illiterate. But alas, I can't just tear stuff apart and let it sit out in the street until I figure out where I goofed. The upside is that I have $$ to do this project with.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a shop somewhere in the LA area that knows these trucks and might have even done a 1UZ swap? I've gotten work done with Eric at Yotamasters in Carson and they are great, but when I checked in with them he said they aren't doing any engine swaps for a while - and, Carson's a bit of a way off for me anyways.

I've read through many of the 1UZ swaps in this thread and other forums. I have a good sense of the process and what pieces are needed, what some of the bigger issues are, but I confess a lot of the jargon is lost on me and when it comes to 'fine tuning' after it's up and running I would be completely at a loss under the hood.

I'm sure y'all can have a field day with someone whose spent most of their truck time inside the cab instead of under the hood - and I'll be a good sport; hopefully some helpful ideas might come along with.

I'm in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. Any thoughts, referrals or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks all.
